Furniture
Start off your nursery set-up with the biggest baby furniture pieces. This includes where baby will be sleeping along with essentials to help mom and dad relax.
- Crib, cradle or bassinet – start with a cradle or bassinet first, then transition to a crib
- Rocking chair – a comfy spot for mom or dad during feedings (and for squeezing in a much-needed nap!)
Clothing
Stock up on lots of oh-so-cute and comfy clothes for your little one! Look for pieces that are adorable on baby, but also super convenient for mom and dad when it comes to changing. Consider handy features like snaps at the neck and the bottom, wide neck openings, loose-fit legs and snap-front or button-front closures.
- Baby clothes – like coveralls, bodysuits and footed pajamas
- Bibs – so you’re prepared for feedings and spit-up
- Dresser – to store and neatly organize all of their clothes and other essentials
Bedding & Accessories
Your little one will be sleeping a lot initially, so finding the right baby bedding will keep them comfortable while they (and you) are catching some zzz’s.
- Crib mattress – go for waterproof designs and pay attention to safety instructions
- Fitted sheets – so they fit securely around the mattress
- Bedding – machine washable is best
- Blankets – lighter ones for when it’s warm and a heavier one for cooler temperatures
- Baby monitor – to keep a watchful eye on your little one while they snooze
- Humidifier – to make sure the air is just right for baby to breathe

- Toys – because you can never have too many
