Great idea, poor execution

I love the concept and am happy to be trying to reduce my food waste; however, it simply does not meet expectations. The device says 4-9 hours. It is always at least 9 hours. I am often having to run it 3 times with the same load before it dries out. It also certainly does not contain the smell. We had to relocate the device to our garage because you could smell it all throughout our home at certain points in the cycle. Disappointed because of the cost and what was promised but still a good utensil to try and decrease our food waste.

Very useful kitchen appliance

Works perfectly to reduce food waste. We use it to amend the soil in our vegetable garden.

Lovin’ it!

Hands down a better investment than the smaller version. We have it on our kitchen counter, while it takes up the space of a large coffee maker, it’s so quiet that we don’t even notice when it’s running. So far it’s managed peach and plum pits, something I would never have put in the smaller version. Loving it!

Keeps my kitchen neat

if you hate smelly wet foot waste, this will be your savior. We dump most of our left overs and cooking scraps in and the next morning we have a cup or two of stuff that looks like coffee grinds. This is NYC. We don’t have a garden to feed. So every few weeks we throw the scraps into the community compost bin. They consider it carbon. This is the most rugged Food Cycler and it works great.

Vitamin Foodcycler Eco 5 So simple to use

Bought this 2 months ago. We summer on a large island and composting can be problematic. The eco 5 turns almost all your food waste to a dry sawdust type product. No smell. No mess. No monthly fee. No animals at the composte pile !! Strongly recommend for practical and environmental reasons!

Handy product, manual needs editing/updating.

I'm pleased that our fruit and vegetable scraps are no longer feeding whatever creatures are getting into our compost bin! I've run the machine at least a dozen times so far and it works really well. There are a few issues that I recommend be added to the owner's manual: 1. that you can't dump the composted "dirt" to plant pots or garden beds without first mixing it with compost or potting soil and letting it stay for a while (how long? How much compost or potting soil do I mix it with?). I found that out online. 2. more complete description of what you can and cannot put in the cycler--for example, an online rep said that avocado pits can't be "food-cycled" but an online article said that you can. 3. I was told by the online rep that the bin doesn't need to be cleaned however, an online source said that you can put warm, soapy water in the bin and then rinse it out. Both online sources were either Vitamix or the manufacturer of the FoodCycler.
