Love the product outside and the inside

Not as advertised

I bought these bowls because they are described as having silicone lids. I'm trying to reduce my family's use of plastic, both for health and environmental reasons. The instant I opened the box I saw the lids were not silicone. They look and feel like hard plastic. The box noted that the bases of the bowls were silicone, however the box only said "BPA free" regarding the lids, reinforcing my thought that the lids were plastic. I looked at the Viking website and they do not state that the lids are silicone. To rule out any doubt, I called the Viking corporation that makes these bowls and they confirmed that the lids are plastic, specifically HDPE (high density polyethylene). HDPE is a plastic made from polyethylene. I'm returning these to Macy's. Worth noting: the lids are not dishwasher safe, so if you don't want to hand-wash them, don't buy these. The guy I spoke with at Viking said the lids will warp and not fit on the bowls if cleaned in a dishwasher,

Defective metal

In the pictures you can see discoloration around the top of the bowl. As you look closer you can see the metal is pitted around the upper edge causing the discoloration. Very obvious. Yet someone put this bowl in its own plastic bag and packed it. Very poor quality control!
