pants with holes are not a good look

Based on the on-line pics, I didn't realize there was a gaping hole in the right knee. When I zoomed in, it appeared to me that there was a fabric patch under the slash. I think pants with holes are a very bad, fashion fad or not, even on teenagers. I don't follow fads, I want to look well dressed, even in casual attire. I'm returning the pants.

I need to get these hemmed but very flattering in my hips area. For reference I got xs and my measures are: hip: 34.5; waist 26.5, Inseam 28 99lbs 32a 4ft 11in tall
