DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
I bought these as a birthday present for my girlfriend. She wore them on 1 hour long hike through the woods. All the color has worn off the toe of the shoe immediately. I wrote a letter to the warranty center to get them replaced or get store credit for a different boot. They told me this is normal wear and tear for a boot that's been excessively worn. They told me on the phone that based on the photos they took, all the tread was worn off the bottom of the shoe. I explained they were brand new. They asked me for proof of purchase so I sent them that along with this message "Thanks for looking into this. As shown below the boots were purchased on the morning of Monday April 15th. The order number and information is shown below. They were received on 4/18. They were worn for roughly an hour. I promise you they were not "sufficiently worn" as the warranty letter I received says. The letter also says "The product displayed physical signs that equal or exceed the expectation for the use of the product." This wear and tear is not something I would expect after being worn once. I sent them back mid-June after reviewing your warranty policy. Please reconsider your decision after reviewing this proof that the boots were new when I returned them for a warranty defect." After all that, the claim was denied again. For a shoe designed specifically for hiking, it didn't last an hour. Timberland says the tread on the bottom was "completely worn out" and the shoes looked as if they had been worn for 2 years. Apparently, 1 hour is the life expectancy of their products.

Should NOT be classified as "Hiking" or "Waterproof"
After spending some time hiking with them ( two different types of trail hikes totally around 15miles) I have noticed they are NOT waterproof and are VERY slippy even on a dry dirt trail. These should NOT be considered "hiking" boots as you can even see from the picture above the bottom tread is not much more than a sneaker. The also suffered pretty significant damage after a few small walks on some muddy trails. They do not seem to have any waterproof qualities to them at all. You would think for being on the higher end of the price point for "hiking" boots these would tick all the boxes and yet they don't seem to tick any at all. If you are looking for a hiking boot go for the more traditional , and reasonably priced, options. If you are looking for a cool fashion boot sneaker these are the ones for you : )

A Hiker's Heaven!
When I first got these boots I wasn't really sure how I felt about them. I liked the style, I liked the material and I liked the concept behind the waterproof boots, but to be completely honest I found the two different shades of brown to be a bit off-putting. I like brown boots, don't get me wrong- but this brown definitely took some getting used to (just not my style). Even though I wasn't thrilled with their color, I still decided to give them a chance, & so I put them to good use. After wearing them for a few days and getting the chance to break them in, they actually kind of grew on me a bit. They are firm, which is good because they offer great support, but not firm to the point of discomfort. They're actually extremely comfortable and cushioned really well too! One thing I was super thankful for was the boots no-slip grip- it's no joke! They wipe down and clean up very easily, which is great. Very durable, did not scuff easily. Great for people that are adventurous and outdoorsy. Can also be worn casually, during winter months, rainy days, etc. I would've definitely given a 5 star rating IF they were black instead of brown. All in all, they are well-made, high-quality and worth it. However, in my experience, the boots fit a bit snug- if I were to get another pair I would most definitely order a half of a size up from my usual size.

Very Narrow Fit
Just by the appearance of these boots I knew they were narrow! As soon as I took them out of the box I could see that they were going to be too narrow for my feet. They also do not have much insulation to be considered warm as I live in Chicago. They are better looking in person to my eye than they are pictured on line. I really had hope for these but they made my toes numb. Sometimes I can wear shoes in and they will stretch but these do not have much give. If you have narrow feet these are perfect for you. For these to be boots I am surprised at the fit. Going up in-size will not alleviate the problem with the width.
