Simple and easy to follow

The Unofficial Disney Parks Drink Recipe Book by Ashely Craft is a perfect companion to her previous book, The Unofficial Disney Parks Cookbook. If you love all things Disney and want to reminisce with a favourite drink from one of the many eateries from Disney Parks, this is the book for you. There are lots of fun and exciting drinks to try that will please just about everyone. Many of the drink recipes in the book are quite easy to create and usually just involve obtaining some simple syrups to flavour the drinks. There are also quite a few dessert drinks that look really stunning and decadent. If you are planning a get-together or having a themed party, this book would really give some great ideas. ❀ CONTENTS: THE UNOFFICIAL DISNEY PARKS DRINK RECIPE BOOK Drinking Around Disney The Disney Mixologist’s Essentials Delicious Drinks Lemonades & Fruity Drinks Slushes Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate & Cider Mocktails Cocktails Dessert Drinks ❀ SIMPLE AND EASY TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS As an introduction to the book, Ashely gives a lot of history and background for many of the drinks and the various Disney parks. Also, the list of supplies and tools is handy if you are planning to make any of the drinks found throughout the book. While the layout is quite simple and the directions are easy to follow, the images are far and few between. I would have loved to have more visuals for the recipes, especially the more complicated desserts. That being said, I am excited to try the Dole Whip Float and the Black Forest Milkshake.

Get the Disney magic at home!

Want to feel the Disney magic from the comfort of your home? Use The Unofficial Disney Parks Drink Recipe Book to craft your own Dole Whip or Blue Milk. There are also many cocktails from Oga’s Cantina to surprise guests at your next Star Wars party. For younger Disney fans, there are mocktails and lemonades, slushes and floats. Finally, many hot seasonally drinks are included like Pumpkin Pie Latte and Hot Holiday Cider. I love the inclusion of recipes from the resorts near the Disney parks. With no young children, I will probably never go there. However, I can feel like I have while drinking some Keiki Lemonade or a Quake Shake. Some of the drinks might be a little pricey. I’m looking at you Fuzzy Tauntaun. That numbing effect can only be achieved with toothache flowers sold online for $20. Still, it’s cheaper than a Disney park admission ticket. Most of the dessert drinks require an ice cream maker, which is now on my Christmas wish list. Many of the drinks use flavored syrups. That makes sense to keep the magic flowing quickly in the parks. Luckily, the author has included some inexpensive workarounds. My favorite was using the juice from a can of peaches for peach syrup. Overall, The Unofficial Disney Parks Drink Recipe Book is a fun way to feel the Disney magic from the comfort of your home. 5 stars and a favorite! Thanks to Adams Media and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Experience the magic at home

OK, this is a case of bad timing. One week after visiting Disneyland in Anaheim, I started reading “The Unofficial Disney Parks Drink Recipe Book” by Ashley Craft. Had I only started this a couple of weeks earlier, some of our plans and meals would have been much different (I would have definitely visited the Disneyland Hotel, for one!). Having enjoyed Ms. Craft’s previous cookbook, “The Unofficial Disney Parks Cookbook”, I knew what to expect and how to approach the book (hence the similar review). Ms. Craft presents a bit of history of drinks at the parks (interesting on how alcohol was treated), but then gets into the good stuff – how to replicate some of the special drinks at home. The recipes range from the overly simple to the somewhat complex to the crazy complex. The main complaint is probably the wide variety of ingredients that are either difficult to find/make, or that are so specialized that you would probably never use them up. Heavy emphasis is on flavored syrups. And having just experienced Oga’s Cantina at Disneyland for the first time, I am super excited that I can make the drinks we enjoyed (especially the Fuzzy Tauntaun) and our daughter can reuse her souvenir Porg mug! I requested and received a free advanced electronic copy from Adams Media via NetGalley. Thank you!

Page turner

This book was a page turner from beginning to end. Do you want a taste of Disneyland without making the trek? This book is amazing. It will allow you the ability to make amazing drinks in the comfort of your home, and maybe even play with some modifications depending on your dietary needs! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Fun book for Disney fans

This is a fun book. I enjoyed making the moon milks and am making a few others to share with Disney obsessed coworkers at our next in office retreat. I appreciate that the majority of these recipes are non-alcoholic. They would be great to serve at a baby shower or at any party where you will have kids and non drinkers. Many are very very sweet. I'm not sure how similar they taste to the "real thing" but everything we tried was tasty and relatively easy. You don't need major cooking skills to make many of these. There are a few that require additional baking/cooking skills, but are mostly in the dessert drinks chapter. You will need some odd ingredients that can be easily sourced through Amazon or through your local coffee shop. Overall a fun book that I will use at least 2x a year.

Wonderful Drink recipes

I can’t recommend this book enough. I love this book. It has recipes for drinks that are served at most Disney Parks and some of their Resorts and at Epcot. It has drink recipes from a Cinderella Latte to Canadian Apple Slushy and with or without alcohol. The book tells which ride or area the drinks are from and also in the back it has a map listing where you can find the drink. Again I would highly recommend picking this one up you will definitely impress your friends.

Yummy

I admit I never reviewed a recipe book and it was great fun! I live near Disney World and now I know how to mix some of my favorite drinks. Love that Ashley tells you how to make the various syrup is right in that beginning of the book. Also the background history was interesting and not long winded. One does want to learn how to mixed the drinks, right! Now the problem is which one to try after I make the Dole whip, The pictures are a great visual aid, but maybe a few more would nice. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story.
