More Fiction than fact
Written to impress upon people that will take each page as gospel. It’s more fiction than fact, more half truths than her interview with CNN. No authenticity, a book that was written to and for people that can’t see or read between the fiction and none fiction aspects of whom she is and what she stands for. It’s to bad Macys is offering this book to their customers, it shows whom Macy’s is pandering too, keep inflation high and there soon will be less Macy’s because of Politician’s like Harris. A book filled with Joy but not reality, thankfully not everyone will be fooled and shame on Macys .

EMPOWERING FOR BOTH WOMEN & GIRLS AROUND THE WORLD
This book is a book a young American girl who sees the social injustices in life and is determined to do something about it. Being raised and exposed to civil rights movement as a child gave her a first-hand look at the pain and injustice of those who are comprised and face many challenges in life. She demonstrated to all women and young girls everywhere that they too can help make a positive change. It is a must read and should be in every school library and every child and women home regardless of race, religion or politics! Young girls and women must know we can help make change for the better of mankind!!!

An Inspiring Life Story
I picked up The Truths We Hold: An American Journey by Kamala Harris to learn about our newly elected Vice President. I can honestly say that while reading this book, Madam Vice President Kamala Harris took me on a life journey. At every turn of this book, I found myself seeing my own life's story in its reflection. I read this book very slowly in the middle of a full graduate class load, full time work and another part time job. I started to realize how hard this woman worked her entire life to get the position of Vice President of the United States. Madam Vice President Harris talked about critical issues like marriage equality, implicit bias in the criminal justice system, her US Supreme Court case on home foreclosures in California, historical events that sparked her interest attending college, immigration stories and her race in the Senate. She worked on United States Senate Intelligence Committee where she protected American interest on various issues like terrorism, securing our borders, the challenge posed by nuclear weapons, and civil liberties. I felt myself relate to these issues because my family has a lot of retired service men from the armed forces. I also started graduate research on the introduction of terrorism, advanced terrorism topics, and global governance. As a graduate research student, I also find it interesting that Madam Vice President teaches the reader about the procedures and methods of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Her education and experience shows a lot of development character in her life journey. I was glad that I took a long time to read and understand every aspect of this book. I found it to be a good release from the intensity of graduate research. While reading her book, I found myself embodying some of the leadership qualities that she talks about learning when she was in college as a young professional. Even though the times have changed, there is still a similarity of character traits that are needed to produce effective organizational change. I'm excited to see the next steps Madam Vice President Kamala Harris will take.

Very Inspirational
Imagine a world where everyone was free to be themselves, where everyone has the same amount of rights as the next group of people, where families aren’t torn apart for coming to a different country for a better life, where everyone could afford healthcare when they needed it, where justice wasn’t something that we fight for everyday, but was enforced all year round. Sounds like a dream right? Why? Why does it have to be a dream for people to be free and secure? It’s because the American system was built on an unstable and unfair foundation that favors one party and that needs to change. That is exactly what this novel “The truths we hold '' by Kamala Harris discusses. The book follows Kamala through her years of growing up, she shows her background and explains in detail how her experiences in life formed her truths. The book touches on subjects such as affordable healthcare, LGBTQ+ rights, police brutality and so much more. While speaking about serious topics Kamala also shares stories about real people and families that the system has failed. The stories are heartbreaking and might make you sob. They follow everything from mothers who were separated from their children and haven’t spoken to them in months to victims of all sorts of abuse gaining courage to speak out about their trauma. The experiences these people have faced is a main reason why Kamala also shares her ideas and gives her compelling visions for our country. She motivates and inspires others to also take a stand. This novel will definitely have you on an emotional roller coaster. One moment you will be strapping up your shoes, ready to start your own protest to make change, the next you’ll be sitting in the corner of your couch that your sinking into to with a huge blanket, tears brimming your eyes and feeling livid as you listen to the stories of those who have been affected. If you are interested in politics, wanting to educate yourself about systematic issues in the world around you, and want to be motivated to speak up for those who need you, this book will speak to you. Every page shines light on different topics that need more attention. Get ready to be thrown into reality and become motivated by how Kamala doesn’t stand down from a challenge, because a world where everyone is treated equally shouldn’t just be a dream.

wonderful read!
Kamala Harris’ The Truths We Hold is an amazing book. It was wonderful to read about her childhood, things and places she went to, different ways of learning life lessons, important people in Harris life and acomplitionments. There are so many beautiful moments in life like winning something you've worked so hard for and remembering your roots along with people who got you to where you are today. The vivid description of important events and memories that Harris was able to describe made it feel as if you were right there watching these moments unfold. One of my biggest reactions to this novel was when Harris won the campaign in 2004 which followed her being sworn into district attorney. I had a big reaction to this because the way she was able to describe everything she felt and what was going on around her made it seem so though I was right there with her. When she talked in vivid detail about how she still couldn't wrap her head around winning let alone going to be a district attorney it felt like I was there watching her and feeling all the emotions. Another reaction I had was when she was talking about a woman who used to watch children in the neighborhood for the mothers and how much she had learned from her growing up. “The Sheltons were devoted to getting the children in our neighborhood off to the best possible start in life. Their day care center was small but welcoming, with posters of leaders such as Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, and Harriet Tubman on the wall. The first George Washington Maya and I learned about when we were young was George Washington Carver.” I have someone dear to my heart who watched me at the ages of 2-5. She was a second mother to me and she's even more important to me now that my own mother has passed away. I have grown up with a woman, who for longer than I’ve been alive, has taken care of countless children before me and how those kids will have a long lasting memory of her. If it was being there for me in tough times or telling me right from wrong, she was always there. This book is overall wonderful as a late night read or just because. Amazing how much she was able to tell us about her life. The people most important to her have always been rooting for her. Leaving you with a reminder to appreciate those who have been with you from day one or always being there for the tough times.

Shocking!
Kamala Harris was actually the first women District in San Francisco and also the first African American to hold office in California. Thats crazy right. I didn't know that until I read this book. This book is full of crazy insane facts and the story line of Kamala Harris. It's crazy to think of one person and go through so much and then end up accomplishing so much to make all those struggles worth going through. This book was indeed a really well written book about Kamala but it just isn’t the type of book I would read for fun at all. The one reaction I had from this book was that I was in shock for most of the book when reading about her childhood and how everything came to be. There were so many interesting facts that I learned about her that I would never know if I never read this book. My facial expression went from widened eyes from being shocked to an interesting facial expression because of everything Kamala was saying about herself in the book. “My team clapped and cheered..” At that moment Kamala was U.S. The Senate-Elect and her whole team were cheering her own and if I was there I would too but she had to choose a whole different speech because the speech she wrote was for Hilary Clinton but Donald Trump was elected instead. There were so many times where I was in shock or surprised over how much Kamala was able to say just in one book. There were so many small stories in this book about Kamala that it shocked me like electricity going through my veins. One fact from the book that shocked me like how electricity does go through your body was how she went from being just a kid with big dreams and then being able to be the person she is now achieving all those big dreams. You probably didn’t even know that she was the first African American woman to be in office in California. Well you do now and if you go read this book you will learn so much more about her than just that one fact. If you do decide to read this book you will probably be more shocked than I was reading this book with all the life stories that were shared with this book and the accomplishments she achieved throughout her life.

This Novel was Truly an Inspiration!!
The Truths We Hold is a book about the fundamental truths that bind us, and the lengthy fight to understand what those truths are and how best to act on them, in her own life and across the life of our country, from one of America's most inspiring political leaders Kamala Harris. This novel proves that one's abilities are not limited by what others believe you are capable of. Your potential is limitless, much like space, and just like the planets of the universe, it's always waiting to be discovered. Overall, my reaction to the novel was positive. I had such a strong reaction to this book because I love Kamala Harris' candor about her upbringing, accomplishments, and, most significantly, her hardships. It was evident from Kamala Harris's opening up about her childhood that her parents were preparing her for success. Whether it's something as easy as doing chores that teach her and her sister vital lessons, or simply being informed that they can achieve everything they set their minds to by working hard instead of wishing for it. “My daily challenge to myself is to be part of the solution, to be a joyful warrior in the battle to come. My challenge to you is to join that effort. To stand up for our ideals and our values. Let's not throw up our hands when it's time to roll up our sleeves. Not now. Not tomorrow. Not ever. Years from now, our children and our grandchildren will look up and lock eyes with us. They will ask us where we were when the stakes were so high. They will ask us what it was like. I don't want us to just tell them how we felt. I want us to tell them what we did.” This is the quote by Kamala Harris that best characterizes the book. This is because throughout the narrative, Kamala has always believed that she must be a part of the solution to America's problems.
