From the moment I started reading this book I knew it would be a good one. This book goes through all the emotions of a teenager's life. From the good to the bad times, while reading this you get to experience all of those moments. In this story the main character is Belly/ Isabelle and she has had a crush on a boy named Conrad since the day they met. But soon enough she finds out Conrad’s brother Jeremiah has loved her forever. Belly, Steven (her brother), Jeremiah, and Conrad all stay at a beach house in Cousins Beach every summer. I will always remember from this book how sometimes a teenage life is fun, and how sometimes it is not as fun as it seems. I loved this book and I thought it was super good, and honestly there is nothing I didn't like about it. I loved it so much that I even read the rest of the series, and spoiler alert those are also super remarkable! I really recommend this book, and I think any teenage girl would love it!

Great Read!
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han has to be one of the best books I have ever read. Following Belly and other characters’ perspectives throughout the book was very interesting to me. I enjoyed every page and was drawn in by the dramatic love triangle at every point throughout the book. I felt that this book was so captivating due to the language used and even the narration from Belly and other characters that are around my age. Because this book is more modern, I felt that I could really relate to the characters and how the actions of others would make me feel. The imagery that Jenny Han used to describe the settings and emotions happening almost felt nostalgic because of how well I could picture it in my mind. Like Belly, I grew up going to the same beach house every summer, so I could vividly imagine and picture everything that was happening. I could feel what it’s like to breathe in the salty air by the ocean and absorb the warmth of the sun. Overall, reading this book just gave me a sense of comfort. Also, I loved how every part of the book flowed together. There was not one point where I felt like the story was moving too slow or the plot was boring. I was invested throughout the entire read and I felt like the pace of the book was perfect. As a reader, I paid attention to every detail and clue that a character would give me to show how they were feeling. I really sympathized, especially with Jeramiah and Conrad, as I picked up how they coped and dealt with their mother getting sick again. It shows how different they both are from each other. Jeremiah is an open book and is always in a playful or humorous mood. You can tell how he’s always trying to lighten the mood when he is uncomfortable or others are sad with his jokes. On the other hand, Conrad conceals his feelings and tries to keep everyone in line;almost trying to protect them. I became invested in Conrad’s point of view because of his mysterious and almost hidden personality. He carried the load of his family problems plus making sure everyone was having a good summer. This shows his maturity to put others first and keep everyone in line. Knowing how much Conrad was dealing with, I enjoyed seeing him lighten up and have a good time with Belly when he was taking a break with the stuff on his plate. After what the Fisher brothers were going through, I could sense the tension of their feelings for Belly lingering in the air. I couldn’t help but root for Belly and Conrad because romance novels like this always start with close friendships. Not to mention, Jenny Han is known for writing many romantic and dramatic books, but this romance novel in particular was highly amusing because some chapters shared the perspective of characters other than Belly. This helped me foreshadow events and emotions that would reach the surface later on. Also, the book had flashbacks of memories from previous summers, so it was pleasing to gain knowledge and the history of the characters as the story unfolded. Especially when Conrad struggled to show his feelings towards Belly, you could really sympathize with how he was feeling based on the memories he and Belly shared previously. Even through the twists and turns of the plot, the book brought a sense of closure and warmth in the end from the cozy romantic scenes. I felt that the setting and the plot worked together in harmony to make the reader feel at ease. The combo of a perfect summer plus romance is great and especially attracts teenage readers like me. Whether Belly was gaining relationships or friendships, the reader could sense the happiness and overall relate to what was happening in the novel.

This book is perfect leading into summer!!
Have you ever felt like every summer holds the promise of something special? That's exactly what The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han is all about. Set against the backdrop of sun-kissed beach days, this book takes you on a journey through the ups and downs of growing up. Belly is the protagonist, a girl on the edge of something big. Every summer, she heads to the beach house with her family and two best friends, Conrad and Jeremiah. But this summer feels different. Belly finds herself tangled in a web of emotions as she realizes her feelings for the two brothers are changing. Jenny Han does a good job of showing a picture of those lazy summer days where time seems to stand still. Her words are like snapshots of memories, vivid and alive. You can almost feel the sand between your toes and taste the salt in the air as you read. At the heart of the story is Belly's journey of self-discovery. She's trying to figure out who she is and where she fits in, all while dealing with the messy business of love and friendship. It's a rollercoaster of emotions that any middle schooler can relate to. One of the things I loved most about this book is how real it feels. The author doesn't shy away from the tough stuff, like the pain of growing apart from childhood friends or the awkwardness of first love. But she also celebrates the joy of those brief moments that make summer so special. Throughout the story, you'll find themes of identity, belonging, and the passage of time in the narrative. These are big ideas, but the author presents them in a way that's easy to understand and relate to. The language in The Summer I Turned Pretty is simple yet beautiful. The auhtor has a way with words that draws you in and keeps you hooked until the very end. Her descriptions are so vivid, you'll feel like you're right there beside Belly, experiencing everything with her. And speaking of Belly, she's a character you can't help but root for. She's flawed and relatable, just like any real teenager. Watching her navigate the ups and downs of summer love is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. But perhaps the best part of The Summer I Turned Pretty is the way it captures the magic of summer. It's a time of endless possibilities, when anything can happen and everything feels more alive. And while the season may come to an end, the memories linger on. In conclusion, The Summer I Turned Pretty is a must-read for anyone who's ever felt the bittersweet sting of growing up. With its relatable characters, timeless themes, and vivid storytelling, it's a book that will stay with you long after you turn the final page. So grab a copy, find a sunny spot, and get ready to be swept away on a summer adventure you won't soon forget.

BEST BOOK EVER
After hearing so much about this book series I had to try it out for myself. I could not put this book down. I wanted to know what was going to happen next so badly and I am so excited to continue reading the rest of the series as the author left us on a bit of a cliff hanger. I loved the setting of this book and thought it matched the book perfectly. I feel like it affected the mood of the book from the very beginning. The main character Belly whose life revolves around summer, was ready for her yearly summer of love which had such an interesting romance situation going on that was really fun to follow. I would recommend this book to middle school students and high school students as it mostly revolves around teenagers and their love lives and the struggles of being a teenager. At some points of the book there were a lot of emotions to go through and it really took a toll on everyone. There were some really tragic things that both families were going through, and everyone had to support each other. For me this book got so exciting I was able to start creating a lot of the images in my head which is getting me excited to watch the movies to see how everything actually looks like in the movies. There were so many different feelings and emotions that everyone was feeling that made the book so much more interesting. In this book I feel like you end up rooting for someone for Belly to fall in love with, it’s so entertaining. During this book we got to relive some of Belly’s old summer experiences which were always super interesting as you get to see her grow up being the only young girl there and her awkward little phases. Belly was such a fun character and in a way you could kinda connect with her the way we sort of watched her grow up and go through some parts of young adulthood. By the end of this book you get so surprised because the rest of the book was leading you off the trail to where it was going. You are left with so much shock at some parts of the book I wanted to keep reading but I had to put the book down for a minute to have a moment to unleash my emotions over the book. You should definitely read this book if you're interested in relationships and all that gossip. Everything about this summer beach romance kept you on your toes the whole time, the different emotions and tragic things going on with everyone tied into the book perfectly and made the story so much better. This is definitely one of my favorite books I read therefore I rated it five stars.
