The magic and wonder of winter's first snowfall is perfectly captured in Ezra Jack Keat's Caldecott Medal-winning picture book. This celebrated classic has been shared by generations of readers and listeners, a must-have for every child's bookshelf and a perfect gift for the holiday season. New York Public Library's #1 book on the list of Top Check Outs of All Time In 1962, a little boy named Peter put on his snowsuit and stepped out of his house and into the hearts of millions of readers. Universal in its appeal, this story beautifully depicts a child's wonder at a new world, and the hope of capturing and keeping that wonder forever. The quiet fun and sweetness of Peter's small adventures in the deep, deep snow is perfect for reading together on a cozy winter day. Ezra Jack Keats was also the creator of such classics as Goggles, A Letter to Amy, Pet Show!, Peter's Chair, and A Whistle for Willie. (This book is also available in Spanish, as Un dia de nieve.) Exceptional on every level!

Quietly groundbreaking when written this remains an exceptional, delightful work. It is a wonderful tale for children and provides lessons about childhood for adults.

Fitting of an innocent world that once was.

When I was a little girl I read this book over & over so many times, I can't began to tell you just how many, I wanted so bad to jump right into Peter's world,... his beautiful heart felt innocence called on me loud and clear, boy, I wanted to be a part of his innocent world really bad!....and this was all around 50 years ago!! Well, for some odd reason my book disappeared and I'm on a mission to replace it. This book, this story, reminds me so much of my sweet innocent childhood and more importantly my well-missed sweet beloved mother,....and by the way I have no children or grandchildren,....the illustrations/pictures, the simple and quick story, are all just reminders of such an innocent and beautiful existance I once had. I will definitely gift this sweet & beautiful story to people I know who have children and grandchildren.
