Web ID: 11775822It's the gold standard of Opposites Attract
4.5 stars I had read "Do Your Worst" and decided to look at what else Rosie had to offer since I enjoyed that one. This one was recommended to me by my work wife, and, honestly, I'm so glad I read this one second. If I went into other Rosie books having already read this one, I might've been disappointed. However, now having both of those under my belt I'm really looking forward to continuing my Rosie journey. This book is phenomenal. It's the gold standard in my opinion of Opposites Attract. I mean, West Coast porn star and East Coast socialite? It'd be like Ron Jeremy and Paris Hilton (with a much smaller age gap). Okay, so quick and vague run down of why everyone should read this book: - Josh is a porn star but NOTHING like what you'd expect - Super sex-positive - Discusses issues and shortcomings in the porn industry that are true to life (I'd imagine) - Sexy Lessons - Hot Hot Hot - Love Triangles (kinda, sorta, in weird ways) I really really really enjoyed this book and am sad I can't read it for the fist time again. As always, I go in blind when reading books and think this is a perfect book for you to also go in blind! Not really knowing where the story is going since there's a few way/places it can go was so much fun for me.

Lighthearted, Fun, Steamy Roommates Romance
Rating: 4.25 The seemingly perfect, organized, and innocent, Clara Wheaton always did the right thing, but when it came to her long time crush, she suddenly took a big chance, and decided to move out to California to finally have a shot with her crush. Yeah about that…turned out that Clara’s crush wasn’t going to be there and instead it would be a different man who’d be Clara’s roommate, Josh. Josh and Clara were complete opposites from Clara always having a plan, to Josh just going with the flow, and of course the big shocker for Clara was that her new roommate was a widely well known adult performer. Forced proximity, roommates, opposites attract, sex positivity, lighthearted, and sweet, this was a really good book to read. Again, like most books I read, they are usually from videos I watch or hear through the grapevine about so, with this particular book it had been one that I was always curious about. The plot of the story of a woman and a man being roommates and said roommate being an adult performer piqued my interest. Right away within the first few pages, I could tell right away the difference in personalities between Clara and Josh. Clara was always so put together whereas Josh just did his own thing. I like opposites attract trope because, then I get to see how two unlikely individuals fall in love and more. This was a lighthearted, funny romance, but I also enjoyed the sex positivity aspect of the story especially since that was Josh’s job. With Josh being an adult performer, you would think it would be straightforward, but this story actually highlighted parts of the industry I wasn’t fully aware of. Being an adult performer, Josh had to deal with things such as, people treating him a certain way due to his job occupation or even the unfair treatment from the company he was part of. While I’m not too familiar with the sex industry, I do feel that think story did a good job of illustrating the struggles, backlash, and often times misconceptions many adult performers are faced with. I really liked the sex positivity in this book. In terms of this story, Clara not only went on a journey of self discovery and stepping out of her comfort zone, but also exploring her sexuality. Clara was a book rule follower, which isn’t to say that she couldn’t have experienced sex before, but with Josh she was able to experience her pleasure unlike she had before. In addition, with Clara’s upbringing she was so use to behaving a certain way so by exploring her sexuality, she was able to be free in that sense as well from her independence. Clara discovered new things she enjoyed both in an intimate setting and her own view of her life which, I really liked for her. Plus, the fact that Clara, Josh, and Naomi (Josh’s ex/ fellow adult performer) joined forces to create their own sex positive platform to help others in their own pleasures or with their partners was great! I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK! Josh and Clara were unexpected characters that I fell in love with. I imagined Josh and Clara’s dynamic in the beginning to be completely different to how they actually were, and I’m throughly glad I was wrong. The way Josh and Clara became more comfortable around each other to slowly forming a friendship while that lingering tension was building up in the background was amazing. This was the perfect balance of lighthearted humor, romance, but also highlighted the issues and struggles that many within the adult entertainment industry are faced with. This wasn’t just a romance, but a romance that combined sex positivity, personal growth, and standing up for what you believe in. The romance was a great mix of sweet and sexy. Josh and Clara were different on paper, but they somehow found similarities in their interests and their interactions were flirty and fun from Josh to Clara taking initiative. Josh and Clara’s story together was the kind of story I needed to read at the moment that made me smile, feel their love, and overall enjoy it all the way through…plus the bit of steam between Clara and Josh were GREAT to read. The ending tied everything up nicely while also the epilogue showing Josh and Clara happily in love and thriving in their careers and life together (sigh) I loved them.

Good Read
This book! As the title probably gave away, this is a forced proximity book and maybe a little forbidden romance? Josh is such a fun character and I loved the flirty banter between the two. I also liked the positive conversations around sex and sex work in this book. As great as Josh and Clara are, I really enjoyed Naomi’s character the best. One thing about this book that I didn’t really enjoy was the fact that there wasn’t much character development, especially for Clara. I felt that the book focused more on the lust between Josh and Clara (which I know the book is about), but I do think that adding more of Clara and Josh’s individuality would have made the book a little better. That aside, it was a super fun read and definitely a pretty unique book.

YES!
Can I just say Wow! When I started reading The Roommate, I had gone into knowing that it was going to be steamy. I had read reviews that saying that it was an extremely s#x positive book. So I was beyond excited to get my naughty read on. But I must say I was shocked when I started reading and found out how saucy this read was going to be. The main love interest for our sweet, rule following, socialite Clara works in the entertainment industry, the adult entertainment industry. Yes, P00RN. He is an adult entertainer. Full on doing it for online viewing. And I loved it! It was at first a little hard to wrap my head around and still some parts of it are. Like so many conversations between the two that would have been automatics for anyone who was interested in some who is interested in dating someone in the adult industry did not happen. But that aside, I loved that it shined a light on an industry that people tend to look down on. It attempts to normalize. Do yourself a favor and give the progressive, eye opening, s#xploration a chance! If you are a lover of smut or are just open-minded, give it a read!
