Incredible as Always!

I wonder if they switched up the content since the last review. I just received this as a gift I hoped to give to my best friend and I’m thoroughly pleased. Between my friend and I, we also own 3-4 cookbooks from ATK (admittedly, they’re all probably 5+ years old and falling apart from love and use) and I don’t see *that* many repeat recipes. Things I’m excited about in this cookbook: a whole section dedicated to brunch; the primer on vegan substitutes and the vegan pantry, so many fun salads (I hate salad yall, so I need it to be exciting before I even get close to making them), and so many new recipes that are approachable enough for my omnivore family to try. I absolutely hate cooking but this has me excited enough that I’ll likely purchase another copy for myself. So I’d say this one is a solid win for me.

Recycled Content, and Misleading Title

I have been a long time fan of ATK and Cook's Illustrated, but I am beyond disappointed in this book. First of all, almost every recipe in this book is in the two other ATK cookbooks I already own, making me wonder why anyone would even buy this one (and hopefully reading this ill make others realize they dont need to). Just by flipping through the pages, I realized how redundant it was, AND at the same time THE BOOK ACTUALLY STARTED TO FALL APART...yeah, just from flipping through in the first 2-3 days. I doubt it will last through the next 2 uses (also means I cannot just give the book to someone as a gift since I dont really need it) After those two serious hits, I realized: THIS BOOK ISNT EVEN PLANT BASED. YUP. Its basically a plant-based cookbook, masquerading as a vegan cookbook because "plant-based is trendy right now" I just dont understand this logic-- I already know how to cook eggs for breakfast guys, I wanted to know how to make a PLANT BASED BREAKFAST, that's why I bought this book?! Some people may be confused about what plant based means, but no one is confused with eggs and cheese is missing from a plant-based cookbook, but I for one am STUNNED that it would be included in one, even if I sometimes eat those products-- the skills and knowledge I want are for the times I dont....obviously. I like that they added suggestions, but its a bit like going to a restaurant where they charge you the same amount of money to leave the cheese out.... TLDR- Not worthy the money, Recycled content, TERRIBLE quality binding, and not helpful if you're looking for really good plant-based dishes.
