Great book!

Recently, I read the book The Chalice of the Gods by Rick Riordan. In this book, continuing the “Percy Jackson & the Olympians” series, Percy Jackson is now a senior in highschool. Percy Jackson is the teenage son of the Greek god of the sea, Poseidon. After saving the world countless times, all he wants is a normal life with his girlfriend, Annabeth. However, Percy is faced with many challenges. To get into New Rome University, Poseidon reveals to his son that he needs three letters of recommendation from the gods. However, this can only be accomplished through quests. Reading each book in order is crucial for this series, as they each have important connections to each other. As Percy is trying to get into college, it is difficult to catch up with his classmates after all the school he has missed. He has learning difficulties, and after all his adventures, he is very behind. This being so, an unique requirement has been created for Percy to get into college. He takes on adventures with Annabeth and Grover throughout the novel. Many favorite characters from previous books are still relevant and important, which can be very appealing to readers. However, when looking deeper, some details are not in line. For instance, Percy is supposed to be born in 1993, but the book mentions modern styles from the 2020s when he is only seventeen. Riordan is an expert at luring readers in and making them hooked. He establishes a unique voice, giving the reader a look at something new. He plunges directly into the action, which immediately engages the reader. Personally, it can get boring reading a predictable storyline with a slow build-up. However, Riordan’s unique style keeps me interested and wondering what will happen next. I highly recommend this book for someone who cannot keep their eyes on a book, or does not even like to read at all. This book is highly recommended for middle school students. However, after reading, I can confirm that there is no real age limit to this book series. Anyone who enjoys reading fantasy books full of excitement and adventure will take an interest in The Chalice of the Gods. At the end of the book, Percy only receives one of his three letters, which indicates there will be more to read. Although I have not read any more of this series, I am looking forward to doing so!

This is One of the Best Books Out There

I purchased this book a month ago and to be honest I have no regrets. The way that I found this book was through my friends, my grandma, and my love for Percy Jackson books which goes all the way back to third grade. I loved the Percy Jackson series and once it stopped on book five I cried in third grade because I loved it so much. However even though I was so sad I kept my hopes up that there will be more great Percy Jackson books. After that I started to read other Rick Riordan book series for example ¨Magnus Chase",¨The Trials of Apollo¨, and etc. All the time that I was reading these new book series I was still hoping that a new Percy Jackson book will finally come out. So when I saw that a new Percy Jackson book came out I was ecstatic and made sure to read it for the month. If you are a fan of mythology, especially Greek mythology then this may be the next book for you to read. Greek mythology played a big role for me in this book because my mother and I loved to read Greek mythology when I was growing up. So another reason why I read this great book must have been also because of my mother and the love for Greek mythology that she placed into my head. Not only that but I can almost guarantee that you will love this book if you are someone who has been waiting a long time for the new Percy Jackson book to come out. To be honest any person that likes adventure should really enjoy this book because almost every page of the book has some kind of action in it. However I would advise someone to be familiar with the Percy Jackson series to be able to read this book and have a full effect on them. This is because it will be easier to understand what the characters are talking about. However it might be okay to start reading the book without reading previous books because that is how easy this book is to read and have a good time. Overall this book is absolutely perfect for anyone to read. It is appropriate for probably ages 6 to 15 because of the context that it uses. I know that any person that loves Percy Jackson series will definitely agree with me.

Great to be back again!

So amazing to be reading Percy Jackson again! So much fun and did not require any real memory of the previous books (which is great because I was in college when I last read them so about 12+ years ago lol). It was also great that my coworker was reading the first book (for the first time) while I was reading this one! I really liked that Percy has to go up against old age, and that Percy embraces aging and old age as it goes hand in hand with what a good future outcome is for him. Getting to grow old with the people he cares about and surviving being a demigod. I also really liked that he comforts Grover about his fear of possibly not being in Percy & Annabeth’s future. And that Percy really highlights that that perfect future he thinks of includes his best friend and not just his girlfriend. I don’t know if Riordan choose old age because he was coming back to a story line where the original readers are now older. Having to probably face a lot of new challenges like getting older, fear some people won’t be in their life later on, or even getting into school to start their journey to that future they imagine. I honestly tear up reading it and then rereading it to write this review lol. “When you're a demigod, you worry a lot about staying alive. You hardly ever think about old age. I'd been so focused on just making it out of high school, becoming an adult . .. but maybe that wasn't the ultimate goal. Getting old might be scary and difficult. It involved things I didn't want to think about, like arthritis and varicose veins and hearing aids. But if you grew older with people you loved, wasn't that better than any other alternative?” - Pg. 211 “As I hugged him, I imagined that I was hugging my grandparents and also embracing the idea of growing older and looking back on a great life, thinking, Well, we made it. Yeah, we'll die someday-maybe soon-but we had a pretty good run, didn't we?” - Pg. 214 “Old Age is never embraced,” he muttered.” - Pg. 225
