Adhesive Breaking Down

Pulled this out to get our birth center bag ready and the lid doesn't close all the way and the adhesive holding the plastic lid onto the wipe holder is gummy causing the two pieces to pull apart. Just trying to open the lid starts the separation. I've kept this stored in a cool dry place so there's no reason it should be doing this. I've never used it. Very disappointed. I'll have to try to contact the company that makes this because the return window from Macy's has closed.
