Needs improvement
I would appreciate if we had some good features added to the Xm5 such as THE LISTENING MODE feature from the Xm6. And the sound quality and the noise cancelling feature needs some improvements since the price we pay as a customer is not cheep. I would appreciate if you would take this matter seriously and fix these problems in the next update for these Xm5 headphones. Thank you.

SONY WH1000XM5-Useless for watching movies.
Useless for watching movies. Cannot disable Automatic Gain Control -AGC of source signal. Dialogue volume OK but when characters stop talking volume drops to total silence eliminating all critical background sounds and any mood music. Destroys suspension of disbelief pulling viewer out of movie. Volume continuely goes up and down ruining and wasting all the effort and work by the sound engineer. Gone back to my WIRED Sennheiser headphones.

Based on available documentation and support resources, the WH-1000XM5 headphones do not have a user-accessible option to disable AGC directly. There is also no indication in the official Sony Help Guides, app settings, or frequently asked questions that would allow users to control or turn off AGC—whether via the Sony | Headphones Connect app or device settings. It’s possible that some of the behaviors you’re experiencing—such as the sudden drop in volume or background ambience—may be linked to features like “Speak-to-Chat” or noise control modes rather than an explicit AGC setting. The Speak-to-Chat function, when enabled, automatically lowers the playback volume when it detects that you are speaking, in order to better hear outside conversations. Great battery, sound quality, & comfort!!
The best thing about these is the battery life! I use them all the time and only have to charge once a week max. They also charge to full in genuinely 15 minutes which is insane. I bought these almost a year ago now and I am so happy with them. Good quality, durable, good case, very comfortable to wear. They sometimes hurt the top of my head a bit, but only after wearing them for hours on end. Overall, I am very pleased and impressed!

Extremely Disappointed. Not worthy for the price.
After using this product for just a month, I deeply regret spending such a high amount on what turned out to be a very average and uncomfortable pair of headphones. I expected premium sound quality and comfort, but got neither. The audio is mostly flat and unimpressive — bad for music, worse for watching films. After using equalizer only it made some progress but not to my expectations. To make things worse, the headphones heat up after just 30 minutes of use, making them painful to wear for any extended period.
