Lights Stopped Working

Shoes are cute! My daughter loves them, but the light up feature stopped after 2 days of normal wear. Asked for a replacement, and Macy's provides a statement that they do not replace or return used items, but will make an "exception". The language sounds like they are doing me a favor while also suggesting that they don't really accept responsibility for defective products they sell.
