Nice design but let down by poor UI

I really wanted to like this watch because it's a great concept and pleasing aesthetics but the UI is awkward and text and icon size just too small to read at a glance. I set the notifications to maximum size but it was still much smaller than on my Garmin watch which means that you can't read them at a glance. Similarly watch faces are just a background image with no control over how important data is rendered so I can't have a large and clear day/date or digital time just the same tiny stuff against different backgrounds. I wish they'd taken some inspiration from Pebble and made the concept engaging and clear. Alternatively an SDK could have allowed custom watch faces or other apps and let others do the hard work but no. The activities are very basic, for example the ' 'weights' activity just record time and heart rate there's no concept of sets, no recognition of your exercise or rep counting like on Garmin or even work time vs rest time. In fact all the activities are the same so why not just have one? Instead you have to click through two menus of illegible icons. This could have been so much better but for me unusable through being illegible or pointless because of lack of function.

I would never, under no circumstance buy this watch again

The watch does not connect to Bluetooth reliably. Sometimes it does not show the right time unless is linked to a phone. I can't change the time without the phone which will render this watch obsolete in a few years. I own other Skagen watches wich I always enjoy wearing but this is not a good product and it feels like a rushed me to attempt at the hybrid market.

Great watch, great price

Love the look, feel, and practicality of this watch! Wish I could use more of the features without leaving the app open on my iPhone but I just use the ones that don't need the app to record data.

Balancing act in the works, still preferred this choice

After more than a week of use, here is my opinion -Fog anxiety due to 3 ATM and reported reviews -delayed app update? Version 4.1.2 was pushed out in Aug 2021. Yet, Fossil version 4.9 was released previously and version 5.0.1 was pushed out on June 21, 2022. -Syncing to the app should be two ways: clearing watch notifications does not clear them on the phone. -Step counters are off. I sit or lay down and I see 50 more steps. I know there are a number of reports to show that this is on par with others. My findings say otherwise. I compared it to another iwatch and I was off 1,000 steps. -No Calendar events available; calendar notification does show up inconsistent backlight taps, it takes multiple attempts to get this to light up. Sometimes Timer has this backlight on. -Bluetooth range seems to be shorter than Gen 4 Fossil Smart watch. only 2 frequent timers and the watch should show the current time so I know how much more timer I need for my appointment. -Increasing Font size does not reflect those in menu items. Menu font for each of the items should also increase throughout. -no workout for paddle boarding or pickleball or badminton -There is a learning curve to the interface and a lot of button pushing. Preferred +Analog watch hands with pushers +7 days of battery life with 2 hours of charging +Watch yellow hands over the new Gen 6 white hands or Fossil +call pickup, message, email notifications +workout tracking integration with Google Fit. +Lower cost on gen 1 vs more expensive Gen 6 with only SpO2 extra sensor.

Beautiful watch. Mixed review on functionality.

Overall I love the watch for its design and some of its functions, but some functions are weak bordering on useless. Love the e-ink display and customizability (including being able to display a photo image on the face). However, various complications don't show up - on my watch the left-hand complication readout disappears in black-on-black, and the bottom one disappears in white-on-black. Support walked me through forgetting and re-establishing the bluetooth connection (with my iPhone 12 Pro), which fixed it until I made a change in the customization at which point it disappeared again. For me this isn't terrible as I actually like fewer complications on the dial, so I just have the left-hand one essentially off (see photo). The sleep tracking is primitive, and doesn't correlate at all with my Withings sleep pad results. However, I love how the chronograph and timer work and they are the functions I use the most on a watch (other than time!). And the battery charging (< 1hr) and life (14 days) are fantastic. The dial illumination for dark conditions is also great. Surprised there is no alarm function.

The Smart Watch for Those of us who can Still Read Analog.

I bought this to replace the Connected watch I had for a number of years. Admittedly, I was a little hesitant about this watch after reading some of the reviews but after wearing it for a couple of weeks now, I only have good things to say about it. Aside from one issue, I encountered where the watch face turned itself off, which is an incredibly easy fix, I don't have a bad thing to say about this. The watch face display is highly customizable, and as far as not being able to read the time, the watch face has a backlight which can you can use to tell the time by where the hour and minute hands are. If you're like me, and you like analog watches but enjoy the added benefits that come with a smartwatch, then this is the watch for you, no doubt in my mind.

Fine Watch

After owning those watch for just a few days, I'm really liking it. It's light weight and it's full features are great. I like that I can pre-customize the watchface for daily use, workout, travel or any other situation and just switch to it when needed. I also would like to have the option to change the bottom half of the notification screen to paperwhite like the top half. That would be easier for me to read. By the font being so small, it's difficult to easily read the white-on-black, even in the daytime; whereas the black-on-white looks great, even in small fonts, day or night. By the way, the as needed illuminated screen is a great touch.

Design flaws plus inadequate support

Very disappointing: The face is hard to read even in good lighting and if there is a way to turn on backlight, there is no clue in FAQ how to do that and no manual for operations. It keeps time and syncs with phone, but it does other things that remain puzzling, if not totally disturbing. I begin to suspect that when I sent last watch in to be repaired, no one looked at it, just returned it.
