Great gift idea

Absolutely love! This is my fifth Shun as I'm slowly building my set because they are pricey. I've also converted my dad and stepdad to these knives because you can't beat the quality. So if you need a great fathers day or bday gift for any of the guys in your life, look no further. They will love this. My husband doesn't even cook but he loves using this knife to slice his watermelons.

Hello John, Thank you for taking the time to post your comments and rating, we do appreciate it! It's always best to do a weekly honing (realignment of the factory edge) on your go-to daily Shun knives. You want to keep your edges realigned as long as possible until it no longer provides the sharpness you prefer. Then, sharpening (removal of metal) is needed. Did you know Shun offers a free sharpening program for the life of your Shun knife? Check out both links below for further information and thank you for being part of the Shun family of made-in-Japan, handcrafted cutlery! https://shun.kaiusa.com/sharpening-vs-honing https://shun.kaiusa.com/sharpening-q-a

Great Products

Craftsman quality is superb. Well thought out design and it does what it is supposed to do. Pleasure to use. Actually, I look forward to preparing the next meal. I will probably remove my Shun cutlery when kitchen guests stay for several days. Have had a few guests chip the blades. Will I stick with Shun? Absolutely!

Excellent knife. Nice balance, good rocker for chopping and dicing. Wish Shun would bring the Ken Onion destined knives back… still my favorite grip of any knife I’ve ever used!
