One of the best books I have ever read!

The book scythe is an amazing 5 star book about a dystopian society. This is a world with no death and everyone is safe from harm. There is something known as the thunderhead which is a robot that knows everything and does what is best for humanity. It sends people to heal others who are injured, and it is in charge of everything. Although there being no death seems like a good thing, it isn't so great as a higher population takes away many resources from the earth. In order to combat this problem, people devised something called the scythedom, an organization of scythes with the ability to kill or in other words, glean people. They are additionally able to give others immunity from dying for a year. The story follows a boy named Rowan and a girl named Citra. They are both selected as scythe apprentices to train under Scythe Faraday. They train and go to something called a scythe conclave to test themselves. It is there that they learn that the one who does not succeed in becoming a scythe must be gleaned by the other. After learning this Scythe Faraday gleans himself to try and spare them of their fate, however to other scythes, Scythe Curie and Scythe Goddard causing them to still have to glean the loser. Scythe Curie takes on Citra and is kind however Scythe Goddard is evil and cruel who is the Scythe that trains Rowan. While Citra trains in peace with her only worry being that she had to glean Rowan until she begins to investigate Scythe Faraday's death. It is after this that she discovered that someone killed him and it was a scythe. Meanwhile, Rowan is suffering with Goddard as his pain nanities (the things that make him feel no pain) are turned off. It is also during his training that he discovers a little girl that is being taken care of. After this, the second scythe conclave begins and it is there that Rowan and Citra, who are still friends, share their findings. When they return they continue their training. Citra finds out that Scythe Faraday wasn't killed, he faked his own death. Rowan also learns that the little girl that Scythe Goddard was taking care of was none other than high blade Xenocrate's hidden daughter that was to be used as blackmail. The high blade is one of the highest positions that you can have as a scythe. Eventually after much training and drama, Rowan kills Goddard and burns his body so that he can't be revived. Then at the third and final conclave, Citra ends up becoming the scythe and instead of killing Rowan she punches him with her ring granting immunity. This book is filled with lots of action and this is why I rate this book five stars and why I recommend this book to all book lovers.

Deeper than expected for YA

I didn’t want to like this book. I read the first chapter then put it back because it was YA & I prefer deeper stories but I couldn’t stop thinking about it, caved & bought it. This book is more mature than it’s YA categorization has one believe. It’s an interesting philosophical perspective of how human society might become in the event of an immortalized utopia. Couldn’t put the book down, loved every single page. Easily a 10/10.

Amazing Book! Absolutely Hooked!

I read this book for the first time, and I can say the plot and character development is so good. The way you just get hooked is just so awesome. The cliffhangers on how the story changes for example the scythe/mentor dies in a chapter, and you don't know what happens after that because the first-time mentees Rowan and Citra don't know what to do and you're just left hanging especially if you have to close the book the cliffhangers are so jaw dropping and it makes you so eager to start rating, all in all I rate this book a 5 star and recommend it to dystopian fiction enthusiasts and just readers in general for a good read

If you’re considering reading this, DO IT!!!!

I haven’t been much of a reader since my high school days, but I’ve recently gotten back into it and a friend recommended I read this book. I was reluctant at first, but an act of god couldn’t have ripped this book from my hands after I got just shy of a quarter of the way through. This is a brilliant piece of literature and one of the best books that I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. The instant I finished, I immediately bought the other two entries in this trilogy.

Amazing book

In the Scythe universe, humanity has attained immortality. They can turn back time and relive their childhood. Scythes are the only ones who can end lives anymore, gleaning (killing) a certain number of people a year to keep population control. I loved this book, it was a very easy read that kept me on the edge of my seat. It has excellent character development and amazing world building. I believe people who like sci-fi movies like Maze Runner, Hunger Games, and Divergent that don't read a lot would love this book
