great seat other than the cup holders
I got this carseat a few months ago and it has been a great seat other than we took it on vacation and since the cup holders do not securely lock in place they fell off and out of our gate check bag for the carseat so I no longer have them and can't find a place to re-order another set

Comfy
I received the Safety 1st TriMate All-in-One Convertible Car Seat complimentary for testing purposes through Stellar Product Testing Panel. My first impression was how great of a convenience this particular seat is, with the ability to use starting at birth and all the way up to 12 years of age if needed. The instruction manual is easy to read and explains parts of the seat and use of accessories. I really like that it goes into detail about how to choose which car seat mode is best for your child's stage. This seat has three modes which is rear facing, forward facing and then the high back booster. The manual goes into detail of how to install each mode in your vehicle, what method to install and how to correctly position your child. I love that the cup holders are removable and can be placed in the top rack of the dishwasher for easy cleaning. My child is 4 and is using the booster seat mode. She says this seat is really comfy and I can tell she feels secure with the adjustable head rest. It is so much easier to be rid of the harness and have the ability to strap her in with the shoulder and lap belt while having the confidence that she is safe. Again, I appreciate that the manual takes the time to show diagrams along with explanations of how the child should be correctly positioned in the seat. It is also nice that they have access to replacement parts because things happen! This seats design allows for my other two kids without seats to sit comfortably. I don't feel it is any slimmer. One could install two seats comfortably but definitely not three across. The padding on the top portion of my seat is sort of ill fitting and bunches up at the top. While I prefer black or dark gray the dark brown of the seat material is suitable. There is also light brown on the seat. I would prefer darker because I can foresee this getting really dirty and stained. However, I have yet the need to clean and the color is not a deal breaker. Overall good seat!

Highly recommend
I was given this all-in-one car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. This car seat will grow with my child and can be used as rear racing, forward facing, and as a booster. It's certainly a relief to know we will not have to buy multiple car seats as our child grows. The weight/height starts at 5 lbs/19 inches and goes up to 100 lbs/52 inches. The slim design allowed more room in the back seat of our Chevy Equinox. Before using this car seat, we could not fit a person in the back middle seat since we had car seats on each side. After switching to the Trimate, an adult could easily fit in the back middle between 2 car seats. The car seat was easy to install and can be adjusted in seconds. This car seat is also very light compared to other convertible car seats. My little one appears comfortable in the car seat and I am comforted knowing he is cozy and safe. One of my favorite features is the easy clean up- I believe the car seat is supposed to come with 2 cup holders however when the box arrived, it was open and a cup holder was missing. The cup holders are removable and dishwasher safe. One downside is the cup holder is fairly easy to remove and I feel it is possible a child could remove them. The seat pads remove and are machine washable and dryer safe which is a very important factor when you have a snacking toddler in the car. I am absolutely enjoying this car seat and highly recommend!

A brand you can trust just got better
I have used safety first car seats for at least a decade. By far they are the best option out there for safety, versatility, comfort, and budget. This particular model is great for number of reasons, first the longevity from the first car ride home with baby to the final booster seat. That is helpful for budget and peace of mind. Second the slim design is great for multi kid families like myself. Trying to wrangle two babes in a car with bulky seats is a no go so I love this slim design. Third the comfort and safety of the seat has not been compromised due to the slim seat but rather offers a comfortable place to put your babe with the safety you trust from safety first. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this all in one car seat.

Comfortable!
We received this product through the Stellar Product Testing Panel and love it. This car seat is comfortable and feels incredibly secure. Our little one is big enough to sit in it in the number 2 position while rear facing. We (and she!) loves that she's a bit more upright than some of our other options. I installed this car seat fairly easily, however, I had to have my husband help me tighten it down as I was unable to pull it tight enough. Very secure. Overall, this car seat is a great option and we love it!

Slim Comfortable Attractive Carseat
First of all, getting this seat out of the box it was very attractive. The colors and fabrics looked like a higher end seat. The cup holders are pretty nifty too with the easy twist and lift detach. The seat did feel a little less solid than others I have but we haven't had any actual issues related to that. Installing the seat was a little tricky but eventually we were able to get a good snug install with both the latch connectors and seatbelt. Getting it back out was a little harder. In general I tend to have a lot of trouble with the seats with the push button buckle type of loosening function. With three kids, it's important for a car seat to meet our needs while being compact enough to fit 3 across and this one fit the bill! I tested this seat with my almost 5 year old and 5 month old and they could both fit in it with the easy no re-thread adjustable harness. My 5 year old said it was quite comfortable. There is a piece located behind their backs that sort of accordion folds down to allow for the adjustment. The one thing I didn't love was the way the straps loosened. The straps only loosened slightly from the top and then also loosened from the sides. This did make getting the 5 month old in and out a little trickier than I would have liked. I couldn't figure out how to fully loosen the straps until they were all the way unbuckled which was just a little awkward and different from what I was used to. I would compare this seat to some other light/affordable seats that we use for travel. Just based on where our kids are in terms of types of seats right now, I don't think it will be our every day carseat. This is mainly due to the trickier install compared to our click in and out baby seat and the way the straps loosen from the bottom/sides. For the price this seat is a good deal and we plan on giving it to the grandparents for use when they are watching the kids. Beautiful but flawed
First off, I would like to thank the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this all in one car seat. I was excited to try a new car seat, especially one that was a new brand. My favorite aspects of the seat include the color and the comfort/cushion. The color I received was a cream and brown/purple, it is not the color I would typically lean toward, but it was so nice to see a color other than black and grey which I feel like every other brand primarily uses. The cushion is also really nice, comfortable and plush, but not concerning when it comes to safety/security for my daughter. Unfortunately, I gave a lower rating because of the issues I ran into with installation, the seat cover staying on, and how low she sits into the seat. First, install was a pain. It fit just like my other seat with the lower clamps and then over the seat buckle, but it took me so long to secure the lower clamps and pull the belt so that it was tight and secure. Maybe it almost felt like the belt was too long, but I was trying to practically pull the belt into the seat itself. Second, the seat cover doesn't fit secure around the plastic seat. It was pulling away just below the armrests. Finally, my daughter likes to sit up and she said it felt like she was sitting in a bucket in this seat. It's really deep and I wasn't able to get it to allow her to sit more at a right angle. I would be worried that if this was for a new baby they would get lost in the seat.
