The Novel Sadie is unlike any book I have ever read before. I love to watch crime shows, however, I have never found a crime book I actually enjoyed. That all changed when I found Sadie by Courtney Summers. Not only is it about crime, but the book is formatted like a podcast! At the beginning of Sadie, Sadie's younger sister passed away at the age of 13. She was murdered. This absolutely destroyed Saide as they did not have their mother. As a result, they were very close and Sadie was basically a mother to Mattie. Shortly after Saide ran away to find justice. This was only the beginning and it was so intense. At the start, I had no idea how much this book would affect me. It is such an eye-opening book. It does have very triggering events such as violence, child abandonment, and more. However, I think these events helped me the most. It made me realize how important it is to act on abuse as it can change a person in all aspects of their life. We clearly see how Mattie and especially Sadie were affected by the drug problems and abandonment issues their own mother had. If you do not want to read about these types of triggering events I suggest not reading the book, however, I really do believe it is beneficial for people to be more aware of these events. The novel Sadie teaches people about it while having it be entertainment. This book was like a puzzle piece. Not just a normal one, but one with millions of pieces. In the end, everything somehow fits together. Summers wrote this book with so much detail it was almost like watching a horror movie. Not only did we get Sadie's perspective seeking justice, but we also received a reporter following all her steps. I physically could not stop reading this book. It was so good that I never lost interest once. The book was very suspenseful and I needed to know what came next. I felt as if I was on Sadie's journey. I read and on every page, I could feel Sadie learning new things and maturing. No book can compare to the entertainment, mystery, perspective, etc. that this book gives.

A Heart-Wrenching, Beautifully Written Story
As an avid reader who often finds herself struggling to find a book captivating enough not to set down, Sadie by Courtney Summers had me hooked from the first line. Sadie has shifted my perspective of crime novels and literature as a whole, and is one of the most riveting and profound books I have had the privilege of reading. This novel is one of very few that have left me truly devastated, as Summers manages to play on your emotions in this gut-wrenching yet phenomenally written thriller. The story telling is innovative and the mechanics are perfectly executed, however the true brilliance of this book is seen through the heartbreaking plot. Sadie, the heroine of this tale, is a runaway. This novel follows the story of a radio journalist, West McCray, who hears about Sadie’s story and is determined to follow clues that Sadie left behind in order to find her. However, the narrative is split between McCray and Sadie, who is on a mission of her own to find the man she blames responsible for the murder of her younger sister Mattie. West McCray creates a podcast to document his progress in finding Sadie, and as the story continues, details about Mattie's murder lead to Sadie’s revenge turning south. As I read this novel, I was on the edge of my seat for nearly its entire length. The suspense and dread that slowly grows as tension builds creates an atmosphere unlike any other. This novel, while dark and upsetting, has beautiful character development that captures the reader and keeps them interested. Sadie went from a timid, stuttering girl into a fearless lead with determination. Watching Sadie's character grow and evolve was a highlight of this novel, and an aspect I think adds to the overall impact it had on me. This book is authentic and raw, and allows readers to connect with the characters on a genuine level. While the plot may be unrealistic and a bizarre scenario, Sadie and McCray are two very complex characters, and their depth was not created unintentionally. Because this novel discusses such heavy themes and ideas, I believe its intended audience is more mature, and can therefore appreciate the details put into each scene. Relating this back to the characters, the way that Summers builds the characters is as wonderful as it is excruciating, as every word pulls you further into their story. From start to finish, I never lost interest in the tale I was reading. Summers creates such a unique perspective by telling us the story of not only a young girl following her sister's murderer, but a reporter following her. This approach is innovative and special to this novel, which is part of why I enjoyed it so much. Sadie is not another redundant true crime thriller, rather it is an emotional and painful story that pulls the reader deeper in each line. I strongly recommend Sadie, because its heart-wrenching qualities are what make it so appealing and exciting to read. It is an eye-opening story that I am more than satisfied with, and I assure you that you do not want to miss it.

Top 5
This book was honestly one of the most amazing books I've read. It is definitely in my top 5. If you like crime books or action books, I would definitely recommend!! My favorite part about this book is how it gives the 2 different perspectives. You are able to understand and you can tell whose perspective it is easily. This book is not a slow read and you wouldn't be able to put this book down.

Sadie will wreck you.
Sadie is two stories merging as one. Follow a true crime podcast on the disappearance of Sadie's sister while simultaneously following Sadie to the furthest corners on a search for what really happened. Full of gut-wrenching discoveries that will leave you throwing the book across the room (and then quickly running to pick it back up). If you love stories about sisters, thrillers, true crime, and emotional roller coasters... then you need to be reading Sadie.

WOW!
This book took my breath away on every page. I read this novel a few months ago and still often think about it. This book made me sick to my stomach in a way only someone capable of outstanding writing could do. Summer's writes with obvious passion and makes putting the book down nearly impossible. The mystery is smooth and consistent and makes you grapple with your thoughts with every twist and turn. The format, half the book being told in a podcast transcript and in the first person perspective of 19 year old Sadie. Sadie is a deep character with a troubled past and depending on your interpretation fo the ending, and even more troubled future, on the search for her murdered sisters killer. I recommend this book to any fan of true crime and mystery but feel the need to warn young readers or anyone who may be uncomfortable by certain themes in the book.

Very interesting read
This was a very heartbreaking story. Although this book created a very somber atmosphere throughout it's reading, it kept me interested as the desire to find out what happened next was burning my insides. The story of a seeking revenge for herself and other young girls of a man who abused them by someone they should have instead been comfortable around.

this book has child sexual abuse
this book have child sexual abuse in it, there should be warning about this. i don't see how people can say this book is great unless they are comfortable reading about man coming in a little girl room to rape them. I love my scary stores and horror but rape against children is abomination. you had been warned.
