Nice camera but bad software

The camera is very good manufactured and has a high quality. Unfortunately the software is not working very good. The detection that somebody is in front of my door comes very delayed and sometimes not at all. Because no videos are stored, or only for a ridiculous and unacceptable price, I miss people who want to visit me and I dont know who it was. So this product is completely useless for me.

Goes off line every night

Why does camera go offline every night? I have the WiFi booster and it still goes offline every night after I reset it it shows that it has an excellent signal. The trouble shooting says it is either loosing power or WiFi but it is plugged in and when reset has excellent signal.

Poor resolution and comnectivity

This camera may be large in size but it's resolution leaves much to be desired. You can't even read a car number plate of the car is parked 10m right in front of the camera at daytime. At night, it's even worse...number plates are a complete blur. The camera also struggles to do an initial load of the video feed every time you launch the ring app and try to view a camera feed. Its just too slow. For some reason Amazon security cameras are consistently behind the curve as compared to competitors like Arlo. Nobody cares about walking path representation on a map or other bells and whistles. What matters most when someone's home or car is broken into is to be able to view a thief's face and to read any vehicle number plates if they've used one to get away. No point if ring pro cams have nothing pro in it to get the basics right.

Hi LouRod. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is for your Ring to record clear and concise videos so that you can effectively monitor your home. The features and technology provided by the Ring Stick Up Cam are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the video quality concern you mentioned in your review. It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. Ring devices require high-speed internet to bring you crisp, clear video and audio. Poor network connectivity can affect the performance of your Ring device. We are happy to share some troubleshooting steps to help you diagnose and fix common video issues that you may experience with Ring doorbells and cameras. Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance. In addition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI. Turn off your mobile device's cellular data and connect to the same wifi network as your Ring device. Open the Ring app. Tap the menu (☰). Tap “Devices.” Select your device. Trigger an event on your Ring device. This could mean pressing the button on a doorbell or activating the motion sensors on a camera. Answer the event and examine the resulting video. For more information on troubleshooting issues with video quality, please visit this link: https://ring.com/support/articles/qmv6i/Troubleshooting-Poor-Video-Quality. We also recommend that you download the video clips for the best resolution. Downloaded clips that have been processed are always more clear than a live view. For more information on your Ring Stick Up Cam Pro, we invite you to reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their personal feedback and experiences with Ring. Good features but expensive to run

I’ve had the cameras for a month and working ok, except the one out the front which keeps dropping wifi. The thing that annoys me is the subscription. It gets very expensive the more cameras you have. I think I’m going to look for ones that I can put a card in and not have to pay a subscription.

The HDR feature is not an advantage

The HDR feature and its effects are not seen in the recording quality in any way. The video quality is not any different from the non HDR. The camera’s video pixel quality blurs and scatters in a wide viewing range. Even the up close range produces deficient video quality. To say it bears a tremendous advantage over its predecessor, I’d say nay, that is far from being the case. All Ring cameras are recording at the same level. In terms of other features, such as 3D motion detection, I see no difference either. The detection angle is about the same as the ones without 3D motion detection. The Bird’s eye motion detection reduces the motion detection field drastically and therefore I’ve disabled the feature. If you have to purchase one, I’d recommend you to get the plug-in model. Plug-in model is better choice because it allows you to add a battery to it as a backup alternative in an event of power failure/outage. But the battery model relies on the battery alone. I wouldn’t buy another of this, because all the added extra features are fluke and useless, and therefore I had them disabled. I cannot totally rely on the Ring camera alone. I therefore have the Lorex dual camera true 4K cameras as the main security surveillance cameras with 24/7 recording capabilities. No motion detection can be missed.

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to share the details of your experience with us. We understand the importance of having your Ring Stick Up Cam Pro record clear and concise videos. Having the ability to review saved recordings allows you to effectively monitor your home. We are hear today to provide you with more information regarding the video quality concerns that you mentioned in your review. If you would like greater detail in the brightly lit areas of the still images and videos taken by your Ring device, you can use the High Dynamic Range ( HDR) toggle in your Ring app. If it seems like the HDR is not working as intended, we recommend checking to ensure that the feature is enabled. For more information on how to enable HDR in the Ring app, please visit this link: https://ring.com/support/articles/80ch8/Using-the-High-Dynamic-Range-HDR-Toggle. If you’re seeing heavy pixilation or blurry video clips, this may be due to slow wifi speeds. We have included a link here with more information on troubleshooting poor video quality: https://ring.com/support/articles/qmv6i/Troubleshooting-Poor-Video-Quality. We also recommend downloading the video clips from the cloud to your device prior to viewing for best video quality. 3D Motion Detection uses radar to detect the distance of an object providing more precise motion detection over camera vision detection, reducing false alerts, and allows pinpoint customization of detection areas. Another Great Product

Having been so impressed with the Ring Doorbell we decided to buy the outdoor camera to keep an eye on the car and the front of the house. Just like the doorbell the cam came perfectly packaged containing everything needed to install on our outside wall. As soon as you unpack the cam and handle it you know you have bought a quality product. Although it works out of the box we thought it sensible to fully charge the battery. Slipped it back in and went to Add Device in the App and then with a few keystrokes it was working. The App then gives a tutorial on fitting and how to customise the cam for specific needs. And if you need more help YouTube is there as is the excellent Chat facility in the App. The Chat facility were most helpful when we wanted to upgrade our Plan to accommodate the new cam. We are so impressed we intend gradually migrating our internal cams (watching our cat mostly when we are away from home) and our external cam at the back of the house.
