A Good Choice

Well made, attractive, holds many pieces. I just wish the bottom draw was a bit higher to hold serving pieces better.

Not very functional

It was a beautiful chest but not at all functional. I put my silverware set in and the lid won't close with knives in it. So if a person wants it simply for decor go for it, but if you actually want to put silverware in and use it I do not recommend. I sent it back(person was very helpful with return) and am currently looking for a better one.

Not ideal

The lid section for knives is too shallow so the lid does not close fully when the knives are stored in the lid.

A straight-forward review of the product

Good news first: The wood of the flatware chest looks like mahogany & the brass knob appears to be of a nice enough quality for the price. Also, the chest polishes beautifully. The bad news: The interior of the chest is of poor quality in my opinion. The product's description of the lining is misleading as it sounds luxurious, and because of it, I expected more of a velvet-like finish to the "felt" that is supposed to protect the silver from tarnishing. Maybe it does, we'll see. But the lining looks ... I don't know of a better descriptive word than "cheap." Also, that part of the chest which is supposed to support the knives is too shallow. The knives look fine when properly placed. But once the lid is closed and then opened again, all the knives fall out of their holders. So, bottom line, I wish I had paid a little more for a higher quality chest ... one that has a lush lining that compliments the silver that it holds and one that keeps the knives in place.

An OK chest.

I had wished this chest has a latch, and a handle; that's the reason for the 3 stars. But that's my fault I should have read the entire description and pay attention. It holds the flatware well: a set of 12 place setting each with 6pc set (knife, fork, salad fork, spoon, coffee spoon, iced tea spoon), and 8pc of hostess set. That's a total of 68 pieces. It could take additional pieces, but that's when the handle, and latch would be useful to ease transport.
