not worth it

I have original from over 30 years ago. This junk from Vietnam isn’t anywhere near the quality as the original made in Japan. The details are lost , the shape of the spoons is no longer there. The weight is way off as well.

Love this flatware

I’ve owned this flatware for 25 years and it has held up so beautifully! It’s incredibly durable and the only replacements I’ve had to buy were for items that disappeared over the years.

Beautiful after decades of routine use

I have only one piece of R&B 1800, a teaspoon I bought decades ago when sampling several patterns, but I thought it still merited a review. This teaspoon has been in my daily flatware drawer and routinely used and washed in the dishwasher along with my set of Oneida Community stainless for decades. It's as beautiful as when it was new (as is the Oneida). 1800 is a lovely heavyweight classic fluted pattern that isn't ornate. Pricey but high quality, if the quality is as in the past. Accessory and serving pieces seem to be unavailable now. (As an FYI, Lenox now owns Reed & Barton and Oneida. For those looking for a full flatware set including the extra pieces, Oneida Marquette is another high quality (18/8) fluted pattern from decades ago that isn't overly ornate. Various sets and accessory and serving pieces are still available on this website and at many other online sellers, so availability is much better for that pattern and some others. My one old teaspoon in Marquette is still as lovely after the same decades of routine use, LOL, and I just bought a new set of it and some accessory pieces.)

High Quality and Nice Looking Set

This set is a nice quality for a reasonable price. The 1800 works for both casual dining and special occasions. Matches well with Lenox Millennial china. Very happy with the flatware.

The quality from years ago is no longer there

I was trying to replace a few pieces from my Reed & Barton 1800's stainless collection that I purchased 30 years ago. My original pieces were made in Japan, and had a very nice quality. The pieces that I received were made in Vietnam, and the attention to detail was no longer there. For instance, the subtle curlicue pattern on the made in Japan utensils is noticeably sharper and more defined than that of the replacements. Also, the spoons no longer have the curvature as the originals, and the weight distribution is not the same. Needless to say, I returned my purchase for a full refund.
