"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife." So begins Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen's classic novel of manners and mores in early-nineteenth-century England. As the Bennets prepare their five grown daughters to enter into society, each shows personality traits that illuminate their future prospects as wives. Jane, the oldest, is the most demure and traditional, and Lydia, the youngest, the most headstrong and impulsive. Attention centers on haughty second-born Elizabeth and her blossoming relationship with the dashing but aloof Fitzwilliam Darcy. Adversaries at first in the endless rounds of balls, parties, and social gatherings, they soon develop a grudging respect for one another that blossoms into romance when each comes to appreciate the tender feelings that course beneath the veneer of their propriety and reserve. First published in 1813, Pride and Prejudice is one of the most popular novels in English literature and a cornerstone of Jane Austen's reputation as one of the greatest novelists of all time. This volume is one of Barnes & Noble's Collectible Editions classics. Each volume features authoritative texts by the world's greatest authors in an exquisitely designed foil-stamped binding, with distinctive colored edging and an attractive ribbon bookmark.

Gorgeous book, horrible handling

Would recommend buying this one in stores, especially if purchasing multiple copies. Three books came thrown in a box, no protective measures were taken to ensure safety during transit. Covers are too delicate to be touching. Have to go exchange them in store.

Amazing Book!

I recently purchased Pride and Prejudice and I adore it. Love, love, love. This book is simply stunning. The interior of the front and back covers features an amazing feathery/peacock-ish design, and the pages have pretty light green edges. A yellow ribbon bookmarker is also present. So beautiful. A tale this exceptional merits a stunning cover such as this one:) I read it from shabd.in and kindle.

Highly Recommended

Pride and Prejudice is a classic, iconic book. Set in the 1800s, Pride and Prejudice is a story of a headstrong, independent but poor young lady, Elizabeth Bennet. Elizabeth knows she will have to marry well, but she is uncertain of who her future husband will be. Blinded by prejudice, and her stubborness, Elizabeth dreams of finding real love, not for money. Written in Jane Austen's humorous way, Pride and Prejudice will forever be a favorite, a real classic.

AHHHHH I LOVE THIS BOOK

This is hands down my favorite romance book I've read to date. While it takes a while to get into because of the old english that it was written in, once you start to understand what the Elizabeth and Darcy are really saying to one another, it's beautiful. It is very much a slow burn, enemies to lovers type of book and while it took the love story a while to really take off, it was worth every second. Plus, Elizabeth is what you call a "strong female protagonist" in the sense that she never needed Darcy or any other man, they were just bonuses added into her life.
