Pandas and the best
I was gifted this panda and though it has taken me a while to completely finalize it, I really love this project. I agree with some of the other reviews that the mesh was difficult to get the tool through in some areas, but I was able to configure the tool and yarn so that there weren’t too many open spaces in those smaller sections. I am not completely finished yet, but having something to do has been cathartic to me. This would be a great gift for an older child that is able to sit and focus on the task at hand for a while. My favorite part of this whole project is that the “practice” heart is recommended to go inside of the Yarnimals. I think that’s super cute and special. I plan to purchase the koala and penguin soon. It has been so nice to focus on something for myself. Thank you PlayMonster!

Panda
I like the concept of this project but it is simply too difficult for my 9 yr old. She got frustrated each time she tried it. It takes a lot of hours to complete and feels like you need a third hand to make the loops. The edges are easier to do than the middle.

I swtiched it up!
This is a super cute craft kit, but it does take patience and a generous time commitment. I decided that the loopy style - although adorable - was not for me. But I am so excited about the way my panda is turning out! I'm doing more of a cross stitch with mine, and it's very fun and relaxing to me. I am still using all the components of the kit, just with my own take on things. I think It would be really cute to get creative and add a few extra colors or patterns if you have scraps of yarn at home! I really appreciate when crafts allow for creativity and interpretation, and this kit is working for me in that way! The instructions do not show how to cross stitch, but it would be easy to find a tutorial if you'd like to try it my way. :)

Adorable but time consuming
My daughter and I were so excited to try out our Latchimals Yarnimals. We got the panda, and it's adorable. It comes in two pieces, that snap together once the looping is complete, and has two snap in eyes. This kit comes with three different colors of yarn, the tool needed, instructions and a small heart to practice on first, to get the hang of how it's done. The directions make it look easy enough, so my daughter set to work on the heart. We soon realized, it only looks easy, my daughter struggled and struggled, but was determined to figure out how to make her panda. Finally, after weeks of practicing, she finally got done with the heart and moved on to start on her panda. To say my daughter was frustrated working on her Yarnimal is a huge understatement. The panda is pretty big and as soon as she'd finish one row of loops and start on the next row, the previous row she had just completed came undone. My poor daughter was on the verge of tears more than once, out of pure frustration, while working on it. The result is her rushing through, just to try to get it done.

Fun long-term project
Great concept and good design. My 8-year-old had to stop and start and did little sections at a time. It definitely would keep older children occupied for longer periods of time and the finished product will be a great keepsake to showcase all their hard work. I also like that you can put the practice heart in the bear when finished.

Long Project + Cute Panda to Display
We received the Latchkits Yarnimals Panda as a gift and were excited to give this project a try. My 11 year old found the technique to be simple to follow, yet complicated in certain sections due to the varied sizes of the mesh form and difficult reaching the center sections. The mesh form is all white and was difficult to guess the color changes so there was room for creativity. The panda takes a long time to complete and is very delicate because the loops can easily slip out of place but the finished project is so sweet! Definitely made more for display than play after the level of commitment to this cute craft project.

A long but rewarding project
This is a unique craft project to make a yarn-animal. Make sure to follow the instructions and use the practice heart before starting on the animal itself! The project may be difficult for those with smaller hands since you really need to hold the yarn in place on both sides of the plastic form which can be tricky when working on the middle sections. It also fits best for people who don't mind a project that is a bit less well defined. I'm used to doing cross-stitch and latch hook types of crafts where you have a specific pattern to follow so the inexactness of the pattern for this project was disconcerting at first (though once I got used to it, it was fine). Overall, it was a fun project and made a cool looking animal. Plan to take a lot of time working on it (I'd recommend planning to work on it a little at a time over a couple of months - this is not a weekend project!) but rewarding in the end. *I was sent this product in exchange for my honest review.*
