A surprisingly good read
I was not expecting this book to invoke such deep emotions, but it really became a part of me by the end. Following the character around while learning his habits and routines, you end up learning so much more about the house and the world Piranesi (not really his name) lives in. Reading his confusion about who is his friend and who is his enemy, but somehow deep down he knows what is right and wrong, makes this book more than fantasy. It is inspirational. What Not-Piranesi encounters and overcomes is nothing more than a miracle and makes me believe in the Beauty and the Kindness of my own “house”. This is a story I will never forget.

strange and weird in all the right ways
A world of infinite labyrinths. A place filled with halls, statues, the stars, and the seemingly endless sea. This novel has some really beautiful imagery, and Clarke is so good at describing this faraway world. As the novel goes on, you get hints of something strange and dark in this seemingly idyllic place, and you keep on reading to find out the mystery behind it all. The ending is just as strange and weird as the rest of thee novel, but it works really well.

I bought this forever ago and recently was out at a summer camp with no connection. I finally found myself with time to be reading and oh, my, gosh. This book wrapped me in immediately! I loved it so much. Every twist and turn was just as unexpected as the last. Truly got me back into reading and now I want to read everything I can get my hands on

A Captivating Exploration of Mystery and Imaginati
"Piranesi" by Susanna Clarke, winner of the Women's Prize for Fiction, is an enchanting and immersive novel that transports readers into a mesmerizing world of mystery, imagination, and introspection. With its poetic prose, intricate storytelling, and thought-provoking themes, "Piranesi" is a literary masterpiece that captivates from beginning to end. The novel follows the eponymous character, Piranesi, who inhabits a labyrinthine house filled with endless halls, statues, and an ever-changing tidal sea. Through Piranesi's meticulous journal entries, the reader delves into the enigmatic depths of this peculiar world. Clarke's exquisite writing style paints vivid imagery and evokes a palpable sense of wonder, making the house itself a character of immense intrigue and allure. What makes "Piranesi" truly exceptional is its ability to evoke a profound sense of awe and curiosity. As readers navigate the intricate passages of the house alongside Piranesi, they are gradually drawn into a complex web of secrets, mythologies, and philosophical musings. The author's skillful execution keeps the reader constantly questioning and speculating, unraveling the mysteries at a pace that is both tantalizing and satisfying. At its core, "Piranesi" is a story about the power of perception, the nature of reality, and the depths of human resilience. Through Piranesi's introspections and encounters with other characters, the novel explores themes of identity, memory, solitude, and the search for meaning. Clarke masterfully weaves these philosophical threads into the narrative, prompting readers to contemplate the boundaries of their own existence and the complexities of the world around them. The character development in "Piranesi" is subtle yet profound. Piranesi himself is a deeply introspective and empathetic protagonist, whose unwavering curiosity and childlike wonder endear him to readers. The secondary characters, though few in number, leave a lasting impact through their unique personalities and their interactions with Piranesi, adding depth and emotional resonance to the story. Clarke's meticulous attention to detail and the intricacy of her world-building are remarkable. The house itself becomes a character of immense significance, with its shifting halls and hidden chambers acting as metaphors for the mysteries of life. The author's ability to create an immersive and atmospheric setting is unparalleled, drawing readers into a surreal and ethereal realm that lingers long after the final page is turned. If there is any criticism to be made of "Piranesi," it is that some readers may find the narrative pacing slow at times. However, this deliberate pace is integral to the overall atmosphere of the story, allowing readers to savor every moment and piece together the intricate puzzle at their own pace. In conclusion, "Piranesi" is a remarkable literary achievement that transports readers into a world of imagination and intrigue. Susanna Clarke's exquisite prose, intricate storytelling, and thought-provoking themes combine to create a captivating reading experience. Readable & Compelling
An intricately layered, surprisingly sensitive puzzle of a book. Compelling and readable, the narrative is obscure but far from impenetrable, and our protagonist is a warm companion through this strange adventure.
