Outside of John Steinbeck and Raymond Carver, I don't think I've ever read an author who had such a command of words. I want to eventually write a book or shoot for the stars and try to write for a living. Mr. Zinsser understands how crucial it is to strive for the best possible sentences you can put down on the page. In this book, he takes you into what it means to write from the heart, and more importantly how to get your ideas across to the reader with the most efficient use of syntax and organization of ideas. Not only does Mr. Zinsser hit on the the most important aspects of editing your own work, he also presents sections of his own non-fiction writing from his past articles and books and also from other writers to highlight what makes them so effective. This was not just informative, in fact, I felt so drawn to these random pieces of non-fiction writing that I realized it was proof that what Mr. Zinsser was saying is 100% true. I feel anyone who aspires to write or is just interested in the art that authors immerse themselves in should pick this up. I already feel like a better writer.

Put Feelings Of Intimdation To Rest
It put my feelings of being intimidated about writing to rest. Within the first chapter it called me out when he said " Writers will do anything to avoid the act of writing." I couldn't agree more. I had to apply it to myself when I realized how often I spent more time getting up and doing things just to sit back down. Writing a couple of sentences and I'm up again. When I was reading I felt as though I was trying to catch and retain every sentence that he wrote but I then noticed that his writing was reflecting his personal thoughts at times and at other times he was actually admitting habits or things writers do. It really helped me to build my confidence in writing.
