Returned

These shoes are uncomfortable and gave me few blisters.

I don’t recommend these forewarning or and vigorous activity!

I liked the look and the flatter profile of the sneaker, unfortunately they run 1/2 size smaller than other Nike sneakers. Most importantly, the toe cap is so tight and cut low that it caused my toes back and the seam rubbed against the knuckles of my toes. After a few minutes they became too painful to wear. I will be returning these sneakers for these reasons.

hard sole without cushioning

I generally need a pretty cushy shoe to avoid shin splints, especially because my workouts tend to involve a lot of running or high-impact exercises with some bouncing. These soles did not offer much cushion; they were just too firm. No complaints about the appearance (I ordered the dark gray colorway), but due to lack of support and cushioning, these are going back. (If you too want cushioning, Nike's Joyride Dual Runs are better suited for my workouts. I also like the soles of their Lunarcharges, although that's more of a fashion sneaker than a training shoe.)

Fantastic trainer + overall shoe

I had not used Nike shoes in over a decade and these won me back! I have purchased 3 pairs so far (Black x1 and Cool Grey x2) and plan to purchase another today hence why I'm leaving the review. USE: The Varsity Compete TR2 are extremely versatile. I use them for HIIT, lifting, hikes, bike rides, short-distance running (max 4 miles) and agility drills. I also use them for everyday wear, dressing up a casual outfit and traveling. I love the Cool Grey color; just the perfect shade of grey to match with everything. FIT: The 2 midfoot straps and laces allow for a quick, custom fit each time you put them on. The synthetic upper in the heel and ankle does a great job of cradling the heel+ankle giving a great amount of stability for heavy lifts and flexibility for explosive movements. The materials are lightweight and breathable which prevents odor. The outsoles are great on textured surfaces (rubber mats, turf, grass), but can be tricky on slick surfaces (wet concrete). The insole can be removed to accommodate up to heavy duty orthotics. I have a narrow foot and am in between sizes (12 & 13) and went with a 13; they fit great. FINAL: The fit and look of these can't be beat. They're cool enough to wear leisurely to finish off a look, yet offer great utility for workouts. These are a steal! WISHLIST: The TR3's were a bit of a disappointment. I really hope Nike expands on what they had going with the TR2s, re-release them and in a wider variety of colors.

Great shoe... with one issue...

Great shoe... lightweight, flexible and stable. The only issue is the pressure of the laces... there are only three crossovers on the top of the foot and depending on how tight you pull the laces... there is pressure on certain areas of the foot. I use them regularly but do not pull the laces very tight. For my workouts this works fine. Could be my foot and may not be an issue for others.

Becomes unglued quickly

Man, I wanted to love these. But they became unglued immediately. To bad because they have a great sole with legit traction and a cool look.

First Nike Training Shoe

Usually weight-trained in running shoes which sucked because the extra cushioning didn't help when lifting heavy weight on squats or lunges. With these on, the force you generate from the bottom of your feet is immediately transferred from the floor to the movement. Stable too which you can feel on movements that require balance. Love 'em. Just don't drop the weight on your foot though.
