Not a match for original Mikasa French Countryside

Does not match the color, size or weight of my original Mikasa French Countryside salad plates. My original plates were made in Japan and these are made in China.

Not a good match for an older set of French Countryside pieces

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this pattern and was excited to receive these plates along with several other pieces from the French Countryside collection I had ordered to replace or add to my set I've had for over 40 years. I have most of the original pieces and they have been used regularly all that time, so I can attest to the durability of the product. I have ordered additional pieces in the past and found them to be a perfect match. However, I was extremely disappointed in this recent purchase as the color has changed significantly enough that I cannot pair them with my other pieces. The older ones are more white, but the new ones are much more ivory or yellow. If you are looking to match your old set, be aware that these will not be a close color match. The new plates are also substantially deeper than the previous version so that they are a different height off the table and it is quite noticeable. I'm very sad that after all this time I will be shopping for a new dinnerware pattern.

Not the same Mikasa...

Please note that this is the same review written for the dinner plate: Purchasing and pickup service with Macy's was great, but Mikasa French Countryside replacements of a dinner plate and salad plate disappoints. Both were visually thicker. And, the dinner plate is heavy, weighing the same as my 15 inch oval serving platter. It is obvious that Mikasa is not producing the same French Countryside as in the past. The former French Countryside was a delight to hold in your hand. Now it feels heavy and clunky.

I ordered replacements for my

I ordered replacements for my French Country Mikasa that I use everyday for the ones that had been chipped or broken over the years. I received them promptly and they were beautiful. One was broken. It was easy to notify Mikasa and they immediately replaced it. It was a pleasure to order, receive and communicate online with Mikasa. Their products are great quality and beautiful. Thank you!

Nice salad plates

I recently purchased these salad plates to replace ones that had gotten broken. My everyday dinnerware consists of a set of Mikasa dinnerware I purchased at Macy's in 2010. The set was advertised as casual dinnerware. The backs of the dishes say "Ultima+ Super Strong Fine China HK 400 Antique White". I love these dishes, and was happy to see that replacements still seemed to be available in open stock. However, these ones I just got are a little different. The backs say "Mikasa French Countryside F9000". Although not an exact match to my original ones, they are very nice. The "Antique White" is a slightly different shade, and the design is a little different, but similar enough. The shape of the plate is different, being more like a shallow bowl than a plate, which is actually an improvement for use as a salad plate. The new salad plates must be ironstone, they are considerably heavier than the old ones. My original set is a lovely lighter weight, more like bone china. In conclusion, I am satisfied with my new salad plates, but wanted to clarify these differences.
