Over the years, I used Cuisinart Grind & Brew coffee makers with a blade grinder. I was mostly satisfied with their performance, but they were messy to clean. Later on, I switched to grinding coffee beans with a separate burr grinder and using a traditional Cuisinart drip coffee maker for a better quality brew. When I saw the updated Cuisinart machine with a built-in burr grinder, I thought it would be worth a try. However, I found it impossible to make robust, full-flavored coffee regardless of adjusting the Strength Control button to the Strong setting and increasing the ratio of coffee to water. It seems that the coffee particles produced burr grinder are just too coarse to allow complete extraction of flavor from the coffee beans. No matter what adjustments I made, the coffee was weak and insipid. For this reason, I returned the machine.
Love this Machine!
Only had it a week so far but so far super impressed. Coffee is excellent. Because you can load beans for multiple days, that is a lot more efficient than my old Cuisinart Grind and Brew. So, too, is the cleaning process. Essentially, you don’t have to. I ordered some compostable filters, so I just dump the filter and grounds in my composter and I am done. Machine is big and taller than my Cuisinart so get ready for that. Would also love it if it brewed 12 or 14 cups instead of 10. But small price to pay.
