This wooden "calculator" helps teach math skills, patterning, and color recognition. Counting and moving the beads on this wooden frame develops a visual and tactile relationship with numbers and early math concepts--but to a child sliding, sorting and counting on this colorful abacus, it just feels like fun!

Other occasion to buy:America needs Melissa and Doug to provide proper Math tools for future generations, my grandchildren could help, I've taught them, they've graduated tops in private schools & colleges, in Oklahoma. More importantly, because I'm becoming a great-grandma!!

Math Park Tool-2024

I purchased 6 of these abacuses because they are of great quality and can easily be unscrewed, taken apart and redesigned, to make them a more useful tool for reinforcing the natural flow of Math, in my teaching my pre-school grandchildren. However, by the time I get to this point, of using an abacus, I just need it for reinforcements. Because, I start by choosing and creating the right shaped toys, for infants, to love and become familiar with, and to begin the natural flow of Math, into their inquisitive minds. Melissa and Doug and others create and sell "shaped" toys on the market, BUT none of them have created the right shapes, for infant learning...they all seem haphazard, just a repeat of each other, copies and not well thought out.... I'm in tears when I go into an education store to purchase items... because it's all the same thing! So, I have to cut and paste...move things around, and or just create new ones...so, I can teach from the right shapes, therefore, with using my own tools my grandchildren are multiplying by 4-yrs old, without limits, with ease, and with joy. The sad part about my tools is, that they are cut and paste, glued and etc... they don't look beautiful like the ones in the education store. But with Melissa and Doug's well-made abacus, grandma's work gets to look beautiful...I simply pulled these abacuses apart, dump all these beads into a box, repaint the rods and use the beauty-store hair-beads on the abacus in order to create this reinforcement. So, in order to "keep them", while their classmates, catch up, I use this abacus as reinforcement. Plus, with my discovery, my grandchildren learn so many Sciences, too numerous to mention here: like plant, insect, sea, space, solar and etc... to name a few. I raise what society considered as "geniuses"...they win the top private-school awards to prove it. So, a remake of this abacus is included in my collection of tools. I have the answer to government programs like, Headstart, STEM and STEAM...I could even add an "R" for religion...this covers that too. Our nation sees that there is a problem, in toddler's education, and they have put money towards the problem, but no one has solved the problem...Why? (And recently, the problem has gotten worse...because of COVID, basically, we have a whole population, that were toddlers doing COVID, and they did not get their basic education, it's really a crisis...however, with this discovery, we could head this crisis off, and instead of having ignorant children, we could produce smarter children.) So, everyone sees the problem, but no one has the answers...well I do, since October 2018...and I've created workbooks and lesson plans, toys, tools, movies with storyline, this affects many, many industries...including medical, memory loss etc. I've tested it on students, including LD-students and its loved 100%....and remaking this abacus, is part of the solution. Because no one has the answers, (except me), they blame the teachers...but it's not the teacher's fault, because "you can't teach what you don't know". Well, I can teach how to play the piano because I'm gifted to teach, but I can't teach through demonstration, because I don't know how to play. In any course I take, the fellow-students end up addressing me for help, though I'm a fellow student...while the teacher is still standing there...so why is that? I've researched other nations, looking for my discovery...and they don't have this either...I saw something in Russia, so I dug, nothing, in my research, I learned how China teaches...they would want this. I searched relics, and ancient ruins...nothing, so, no proof that the relics stories told to us, are accurate. I've found it with King Solomon, no surprise, of course, because he was the wisest man. I recently looked at the Mayans writings...but still don't see this. This exposes the real geniuses, and shows you where ones "missed it", like Leonardo DaVinci, that solution is kinda funny...and the "fakes" like Tesla, that's one of my "pet peeves".... about made up history...I even studied their travels, to gage their thinking...another topic. Our nation also realizes that knowing information by 3rd Grade is very important... again this well-made Melissa and Doug abacus tool, once remade is very useful to help reinforce my teachings to my grandchildren by 1st-grade, because by then, I have finished teaching the natural flow of math-multiplication by 4-years old, the rest is repeat. Also, I'm using these abacuses in my layout for a Math-park, imagine that.

Abacus

I just received the Melissa and Doug Abacus which to me looked really sturdy being that my little one plays rough i was pretty sure that the Abacus contained the metal bars just like the pictures and description, it does NOT. I will most likely be returning the Abacus
