It has shown me the way to live through the love o

This book made me look at myself and ask: “Do I show my love through actions?”. I have learned a great deal from Love Does by Bob Goff. It has shown me the way to live through the love of Jesus. This book gave me an uplifting cloud while reading. I have a friend: a wonderful, caring, driven Christian girl. The excitement that shined in her eyes while talking about it made me want to read. A few months later, my mom read this book during troubled times. This book, she claims, saved her from everything going on. I was inspired by the impact it made on my friends and family. Goff is an attorney who is also a devoted Christian who makes God the clear center of his life. He is determined, courageous, and kind-hearted; which is all fueled by love. Goff illustrates that love is taking action and not conforming to the unimportant things in life. Goff explains that we should not be religious but rather be like Jesus, which he displays through helping a complete stranger with his wedding proposal. Throughout the book, he shares stories of his bold character taking on the world, showing us we shouldn’t be a spectator. I enjoy the many amazing stories spoken throughout the text. I heard these stories and just was in total awe. My favorite story was when he met his wife, “Sweet Maria”; the name he calls her throughout the book. Seeing his love for her woven in the pages was just so incredible to read. When Goff had gotten in an accident, his immediate reaction was to go to the lady who caused it and simply act as if he didn’t just almost die. While reading, however, sometimes it was hard to relate to these miraculous stories because of his venturesome outlook. For instance, when he unexpectedly became the Consul of Uganda. Through his stories, he shows young adults how they should be driven by the Lord in the coming years. However, I do agree that this memoir is open to all audiences showing the love of Jesus! After reading just a few chapters, I felt attached at the hip to this book. As a Christ-follower, I try to exhibit love in this world around me. While reading, I found myself redefining love to a verb; Love through Jesus needs to be acted upon through the world. I felt comfort when reading about his positivity to things around him. I realized I need to be a leader of love in this world. Goff threaded the theme of being engaged in life and putting ourselves out there so we don't miss out on being engaged in life and putting ourselves out there so we do not miss out. Furthermore, he says how we need to be engaged in learning about a person; they need to know how much they matter. This book takes you through a journey across life. Displaying, life lessons, motivation, and call to action.

Amazing Memior!

What can love do? What is love doing in your life? Love Does written by Bob Goff is a marvelous memoir about his crazy fantastic life. Throughout the novel, Bob opens up to us about his adventures, his embarrassing moments, and his achievements. He lives the life everyone wants to achieve and the one we all dream of. Bob Goff is a very spiritual man: since high school, he has had an amazing love for God, life, and living. With his love, he can find light in the darkest places of his life no matter what. Bob's stories all deal with love in some way shape or form. Bob displays to us how powerful love is. He inspires us to go after our dreams in addition to always saying YES to opportunities. Bob structures his memoir by telling us his story then his lesson learned and his connection to God. The chapters in the book are short so I enjoy being able to have stopping points easily. His lessons are so amazing and have made me think about my life so much. We hear his crazy fantastic stories of him getting into college by sitting outside of the dean's office, him sailing to Hawaii from LA with no experience of boating, Helping a stranger with their wedding proposal, Sneaking into a movie set, meeting world leader from all around the world with his family, and even becoming an honorary consul for Uganda without knowing. Additionally, Bob does become a bit repetitive but the more he repeats his lessons the more they sink in. I’m so happy I was able to read this memoir at the age I am because without it I wouldn’t have thought about my life the way I do now. As a high school student, I was not sure whether or not I wanted to read this for school. My 11th grade English class was assigned to read a memoir and my friend suggested it. I tend to struggle to get into books that are assigned for homework but this was such an amazing book. When I started this book I was not able to put it down and with the stories, he tells. Any age can read this book from being a teenager and on, but in my opinion the younger you read this the better. Knowing how Bob lives his life and loves to live has inspired me so much. It is astounding to me how he is so happy and goes for what they want. I want to live as Bob does. I want to go after what I want in life just as Bob does. I want to say YES to all of the opportunities in life and not hold back. If you are considering reading this memoir say YES and read this one.

So beautiful, so inspiring, so full of Jesus.

I was introduced to Bob Goff’s memoir, Love Does, by my most faithful friend, and we were immediately intrigued by this narrative. So, when we were asked to choose a memoir to read in English class, we chose this one. We took this opportunity so our faith could deepen and so we could live a life according to His will. This book contains admirable stories from Goff’s life testimony resulting in powerful and convicting messages about faith. More importantly, we learn that Love Does. Goff lived a crazy life: He brought the Coast Guard to a marriage proposal, he founded a school system in Uganda, he and his family met with government leaders worldwide, he unwittingly became the Ugandan Consul, he was admitted into law school by standing outside the Dean’s office for weeks, and he crewed a sailboat from Los Angeles to Hawaii with no sailing experience. While these stories already had me on the edge of my seat, the messages Goff imparts from these experiences are even more powerful. The ability Goff has to turn a short, sometimes insignificant story into a stunning message about living for God is breathtaking and left me in awe. Goff taught us that Love Does. Love is a verb. Love is an action. Love is doing something that shouts your passion for all to hear. This book taught me how to say YES. Love Does is full of wisdom, love, and conviction. My relationship with Jesus grew substantially after reading this book. Now that I know Love Does, I can live happily, abundantly, and generously. A possible drawback you may find is the overall syntax/organization of the book. Every chapter has one anecdote and a related message following, causing me to find myself sometimes bored and inattentive because of the repetitiveness. However, the messages stemming from his anecdotes trump all syntax drawbacks. In all honesty, I didn’t even feel I was reading a book. Instead, I felt I was there, with Bob, doing countless, ludicrous, and spontaneous things while still giving all the glory to God. After finishing this memoir, I was inspired and therefore determined to find out how I can implement the message that Love Does into my life. Goff does a highly developed job at portraying Jesus’ love on paper...God is IN this book. Through and through, cover to cover. I am confident that, like me, you will feel motivated to DO something representing your love for Jesus. Overall, I give this book a big YES. If you’re looking to deepen or even start your relationship with Jesus, I highly recommend Bob Goff’s memoir, Love Does.
