Enjoyable
My son has had these since he was 8 months old. Over the year and a half that we have had these we have played with them in a variety of ways. When he was younger it was simply to take the wings on and off. As he got older it was to develop language and match shapes, then eventually colors, and now imaginative play. The pieces are very durable and smooth to the touch. Yes, as some others have reviewed some pieces do not snap tight in place but it is not that bad. I would have given this 5 stars if all of the pieces were snap tight.

My grandaughter was learning colors and shapes when she received this as a gift for her 2nd birthday. I thought it would be a great teaching tool, but she became very upset when the cutout on the purple wings did not match either the purple body or the contrasting color on the purple head (orange) she kept saying "No! No! Grandma that's wrong, it doesnt match!" she got so mad she cried and refused to play with it any more. when children learn colors and shapes they are typically learning matching as well. it does not make sense (to anyone with a logical brain) to have purple wings go with a red body and not have a red head with purple antennae or vice versa. I dont know why they didnt use complimentary colors together (purple and yellow, blue and orange, red and green) it makes a good decoy toy for the puppy to take and chew on so she leaves the toys we care about alone.

for older preschoolers
I bought this for my 2 year old niece, and found that it is difficult to put together for her. I think this would probably be better for older preschoolers.
