Thick and absorbant terry, fits large

This robe is thick and absorbant, it's a nice cotton terry cloth, which was hard to find in store. It feels typical of Lands End reputation - quality materials, well made. JUST received and started using, so have not washed it yet. the length is a couple of inches below knee for someone who is 5'10" Size L - would fit XL, not sure about XXL.

bad color

I bought the navy robe washed it in cold water and after 2 washings pink spots appeared on the robe and more came with each washing, embarrassed to wear it

Luxury & Static

This robe was a Valentine's gift for my partner. It arrived quickly! He is pleased overall, especially with the thickness and luxurious feel, but says there's quite a bit of static in it even after washing. If fabric softener is not to be used, according to the laundry instructions, what do you recommend to eliminate it? Thanks.
