Great for tomato sauce

I have used this for the past 10 years to make tomato sauce. it does a great job of removing the seeds & skin. However, two parts have chips in them and you can't just replace it you have to buy the whole thing again. Also, when running for hours, its very noisy.

compatibility with metal food grinder

I recently bought the fruit and vegetable strainer first not knowing that you need a food grinder to even work. My bad that I didn't read the fine print - just glanced at the description. So I looked at the food grinder and the plastic one got really bad reviews. The metal one received very good ones so I forked out significant money to get this one. Upon trying to assemble it I realized the strainer tray does not fit over the bigger ring of the metal grinder. What a bummer. Why would the development team not think of it fitting over the much better metal food grinder? I am severely disappointed from Kitchenaid and wonder if I should return all this. I am not willing to buy the plastic food grinder.

This is the innovation in processing tomatoes!

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I studied and researched this attachment and ordered. Tried it right away and it works like a dream. No more having to blanch tomatoes to remove skin and seeds. I see so many batches of Passat in my future ! I will be going squash too for soups !!!

Excellent attachment

I have been making passatta using a hand mouli for years which is very tedious. This attachment did a better job in a fraction of the time, I am very impressed and highly recommend it.

Mine also did not like blackberries!

Like a previous reviewer, my strainer part also popped off its plastic ring while I was straining blackberries. I don't see that one can purchase this part separately?

10+ Plus Years of Incredible Tomato Sauce

We started making tomato sauce using this Fruit & Vegetable Strainer in 2007 and since then have canned several hundred quarts of delicious thick sauce. I do run the pulp thru again and get quite a bit more juice from it. It seemed like an obvious thing to do. I wore out a Professional 5 Stand mixer and replaced it with a Pro 5 Plus which has steel gears. However 1 problem. The o-ring on the shaft wore out and I'm not able to identify the correct replacement size. As a result, juice leaks back into the motor I have to take the top off the stand and clean out the tomato schmutz before I put it away after a canning run. (BTW, good design for the drainage inside the motor) Can you help with the o-ring info?
