Title: King's Cage Author: Victoria Aveyard Release Date: February 7th, 2017 Page Count: 535 Format: Paperback/Audiobook Start Date: May 20th, 2022 Finish Date: May 23rd, 2022 Rating: 5 Stars Review: I was so shocked by the ending of the second book that I had to immediately find out what happened from there. This book hit differently than the first two to me. I also really loved the new points of view in this book. I feel like we get to know more people. Some characters drive me nuts. I mean I like them, but I want to smack them. If that makes sense. I also really would have loved to see more of the antagonist points of view here and there. Just to see why they did what they did. I feel that way about every fantasy novel I read though. That's not a knock against the book. The cover of this book really made me worry! Ever have a book that drives you nuts but you can't get enough of it and need to know what happens next? Yeah I've been there with this whole series.

If you want more Maven, this third book is for you

You have to admit it—you love toxic, crazy, obsessive, mommy issues Maven Calore. I’m guilty of it. Comparing from the last book, Glass Sword, Maven was only in the beginning, end, and epilogue. This time, the third book is all about Maven. Maven appears in the book about, I would say 75, maybe 95% of the time. What I liked about this book is you’re able to read through the POVs of not only Mare’s but Cameron, and Evangeline. Evangeline’s POV came I believe two or three times, which majority of the chapters were Mare and Cameron since Mare was separated, so Cameron’s POV was her and The Scarlet Guards featuring Cal, Julian, and Sara. Within this third book, you get to learn more about Maven and what his mother (Elara) truly did to him, his reasoning behind Mare, and you start to question his emotions on certain levels. With Evangeline, you literally get to understand her more and I can’t believe what I’m saying, but I think she’s honestly a character I started to like because Victoria decided to put her POV. Mare…you know, Mare being Mare. There’s going to be points where you’re like Mare :( and then there’s going to be points where you’re like Mare *rolling eyes emoji* because that was definitely me, especially the rolling eyes emoji towards the end when she mentions Kilorn and also the epilogue. I hope Victoria continues with the POV in War Storm and I hope to see that Maven has a POV as well as Cal! I’m giving this a 5/5, when initially I put a 4.9/5 because I loved the POVs, Evangeline, I get her now, I like her, but that one point off because Mare was getting on my nerves and I wanted hands (on sight).

Good Read

Kings Cage, by Victoria Aveyard a fictional book. In this series Mare the main main character is faced with many challenges because of the color of her blood. Maven the newly crowned king takes Mare as his prisoner surrounded by silent stone so she can’t use her lightening as a new blood. The Scarlet Guard is seen as a terrorist group throughout the country when really all they are trying to do is get equal rights for red and silver blood. Red is of lesser status and serve the silver. Maven is trying to destroy the Scarlet Guard and ends a Centuries long war by marrying the enemies daughter. Now that they are allied, they are both going to destroy the Scarlet Guard. Eveline who Maven was supposed to marry is upset she won’t be the future queen. This was a very good book and it never got boring. There were a few parts of the book where they could have done better, I personally didn’t like Cam’s view. Instead of just Mare’s view they added another characters Cam who’s in the Scarlets Guards view. I think they could have used someone better like Farley the leader or someone more important view. Overall people should read this series because there is always something new happening and it’s never a boring read.

Best one yet

I was in love with this book from beginning to end. I will not spoil but my emotions went on the biggest roller coater. I found myself loving people to hate them later and vice versa. Overall I am currently in distress because I finished this book a couple minutes ago so now I have to buy the fourth tomorrow. Highly Recommend, definitely my favorite of the series so far.
