From the #1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Stalking Jack the Ripper series comes a new blockbuster series. Two sisters. One brutal murder. A quest for vengeance that will unleash Hell itself. And an intoxicating romance. Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are streghe - witches who live secretly among humans, avoiding notice and persecution. One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family's renowned Sicilian restaurant. Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin, desecrated beyond belief. Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister's killer and to seek vengeance at any cost-even if it means using dark magic that's been long forbidden. Then Emilia meets Wrath, one of the Wicked-princes of Hell she has been warned against in tales since she was a child. Wrath claims to be on Emilia's side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women's murders on the island. But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems.

A Series that Should Have Been 1 Book & Not 3

I started this series after reading Throne of the Fallen. I am only through the first two books in this series but I am very surprised that this is considered YA. Kingdom of the Wicked is fairly tame but Kingdom of the Cursed is rather explicit for what I would consider a YA book. (I am in no way a prude or offended by the material, it is just not what I am used to in a YA book.) The plot of this book is very much typical fantasy/romance but it's not a bad read. It is a bit boring and I believe it is too long and drawn out over 3 books. I would have preferred if this book was where the Prince of Sin series started and was written as one long story in the same way as Throne of the Fallen. I also would have preferred to have more of Wrath's viewpoint. Emilia can be whiny at times but she's not the worst FMC (although I will say my viewpoint of the story may be biased since I read Throne of the Fallen first so several things are already spoiled for me). Wrath is.. Wrath.. A bit annoyingly overly secretive at times but he makes a good love interest and admittedly he is my favorite sin of the 7 brothers. Had I not started with Throne of the Fallen, I probably would have found KOTW more interesting but I do think it serves as a decent backstory. There are several points in the story where Emilia is very clearly an 18 year old acting the way you'd expect one to and then just a few chapters later she is written as.. much more mature, if only for a bit. The "adult" themes & scenes in both series are honestly a bit boring and are pretty much the exact same just with different characters and that is the biggest flaw of the author. The overall story itself is not bad, but the plots are repetitive across the series. All in all I did not hate it, but I won't be re-reading it either. I would highly suggest reading Throne of the Fallen first and then reading this series as a prequel.

Adore the concept, but poor execution

I love the overall plot of this series and all of the demon princes. It has very intriguing world building. I've read the whole series and the spin-offs. With that being said, the editing processes that these books should have gone through flat out failed. There are many plot holes and contradictions. An extremely whiney FMC, that was way too annoying for me to remotely like her character. 90% of what she does throughout all of the books makes no sense or is her starting arguments/complaining for illogical reasons. By the last book I was glad it was over. Worth the read if you have nothing better to do, but don't have high expectations.

Wicked Read!

Let’s just say I read the whole series in a short time. So much going on with all the characters. I was stunned at the end I didn’t see it coming. But everything tied together. Has quite a bit of dirty scenes. ♥️

Review Contains Spoilers

I tried to read this book, and really wanted to like it. But felt that the plot was basically driven by the Main Character's and supporting characters' foolish decisions. Ex: magical grandmother tells them (many times!!!) to never take off their necklace AND To not go out at night--> One sibling takes it off and they later die at night (why?!?!? would they do that). Or sometimes the logic just doesn't make sense. Like when the sister of MC was found with her heart carved out in the basement of a church and instead of thinking this was something done by an evil powerful being like the grandmother keeps alluding to, the MC thinks it was done by a plain regular normie human witch hunter??????? And decides to work with a demon thing???????? To solve the murder of her sister that is very much done by probably some demon thing???? It's been a long time since I even attempted to read this so my details might not be super accurate but that's the gist of it. I couldn't get past these plot points and felt so frustrated by the characters' dumb decisions that I had to stop reading but this frustration still haunts me every time I stumble across this author.

It was great BUT

The book was good! I enjoyed the character Wrath. Emilia was obnoxious though. She was way to stubborn for my liking. Wrath constantly kept secrets, but honestly Emilia's personality was extremely more annoying than him and his secrets. I did like their relationship though.

Italian Witches

I really struggled with this book. I liked it, but there were some inconsistencies with the story that maybe will flesh out in the future books. I love witch books and books set in beautiful places like Italy, and my favorite trope is a enemies-to-lovers style novels. Getting a little of Emilia and Vittoria backstory was a nice start, but also sad. I found the world building lacking, but I am sucker for strong world building. I enjoyed the banter between Emilia and Wrath and I am very much looking forward to reading more in this series. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the early copy.
