We had these sheets for about 7 years. I loved them - closest thing to feeling like old fashion cotton sheets I could find. Then we changed bed sizes. I bought these in January and was disappointed - as they were scratchy. But...after 4 or 5 washings, they were exactly the same as my original. I think you'll be very happy with them if you give them a chance.
Extremely disappointed!
For 800 thread count sheets, these are awful! Very scratchy and stiff! I'm returning them immediately!
Creative thread count
Thread count is manipulated. Manufacturer achieves 800 thread count by USING 2 PLY YARN. In other words - these sheets are actually 400 thread count. Once package was in hand and I noticed 2 ply yarn I went to computer and printed return label. It is a nice sheet; but, it is not the weight of true single ply yarn 800 thread count and does not pass for use in my home.
Disappointed. Not the same.
I have been an avid Hotel brand lover for over a decade. These used to be the only sheets I would buy, and I was convinced they were the best sheets in the world. Now, they are awful. Both these and the 600 thread count. They changed them to a sateen finish and now they feel like sleeping on a fabric shower curtain. Horrible. They used to feel like silk. I am so sad, and now I have to find another brand.
Should have listened to another review, not the same sheets
Another reviewer said these sheets now had a sateen finish. I went to the local Macys but they only had the 600 count, which were a sateen finish. I still ordered the 800 count and just received the sheets. They have a sateen finish as well. What happened to the cotton feel Hotel Collection? For the amount of money I paid for a set of these King sheets, it should be labeled 'Sateen'. Won't be buying these anymore!
Not what they used to be
We have loved these sheets for years because they were all cool cotton with no sateen finish. The sheets we bought last month have the look and feel of sateen and are not very cool to the touch. What has happened to these wonderful sheets?
Quality Cotton
My parents and extended family came from Europe - as Tailors, seamstresses and an upholsterer, and fabrics were a part of my daily life. I came to understand and appreciate quality, which is often lacking in today's textiles. It took me some time to find these sheets. I tried several other brands first, all of which were flimsy, unstable, and would shift out of place on our mattress. These sheets are heftier and have more body than many other sheets I've tried, but having used hand-woven Cotton from Europe, I know that real cotton embodies these qualities - along with longevity. In my experience the lighter, sateen sheets don't hold up for long, and ultimately become too 'loose' for my tastes. These are the best sheets I've purchased and I expect to have them for a long time.
Very dissatisfied
Don't waste your money. As other people have stated, they are very rough. Used to be a good soft sheet. That was two years ago when I bought them last. They must have changed the cotton, because now they are rough and scratchy. Please do not buy.
