A worthwhile splurge!!

Wanted to try this due to the stovetop aspect (Wintertime in the mountains) and was really pleased to find that it not only brings out the aroma but also enriches the flavor of different coffee types—and blends. You need to closely lend attention to this coffeemaker once you turn on the burner; it works rapidly once the required heat level is reached. The coffee will be medium hot and ready to drink by the time it fills the cups. It works with Japanese style teacups with no handles as well as with standard espresso cups. I have used a number of different coffee samples and found that only the super fine blends may scorch slightly due to density once placed in the basket.

Not for all stove tops

It makes a great espresso, but it doesn't seem safe for all stoves. Once the coffee is brewed, the cup handles are too hot to touch. I had to use a napkin to quickly grab one cup and move it to the counter...but as I did that, the whole espresso maker tipped over with one cup still on it, and spilled hot coffee all over my stove. Then, the espresso maker got stuck inside the grates of the stove and was really hard to get out. I have one great cup of espresso and a mess to clean up. Maybe if there was some kind of adaptor or a wider base, the device could sit completely flat and balanced on my stove, but in its current form, it is almost exactly the same size, but slightly smaller than the opening in the burner grate, so it doesn't sit flat over the fire...I'm not sure of an ideal solution for taking the super hot espresso mugs off the device safely. I could wait until they cool down, but then my coffee would not be hot, and even then, it would still be off balance and tip over.
