Mirror shelf not sized correctly - unusable

Once assembled the table appears to be stable and attractive, but the lower mirror shelf does not fit. It has been rotated 360 degrees and it will not recess onto the shelf. It is NOT usable in this position. See photo that shows light between the metal frame and the mirror shelf. Exploring option of replacement shelf with Hudson and Canal to avoid return.
