Item was never picked up

I’m very disappointed with Macy’s at Hanover MA location, item was never picked up by me after I received notification that item was available for pick up, I called customer service to file a claim and said that the day I supposedly picked up the item I was out of the country and if I wasn’t able to pick it up, the item should be automatically canceled but instead was charged to my account when whoever picked it out, so they didn’t checked out ID? I haven’t received any response regarding this issue. Being a loyal customer for 17 years this is frustrating.
