Love em, but…

I absolutely love the Franklin X40 Pickleballs for their vibrant color, which makes them super easy to spot on the court. The bounce is consistent, and the playability is top-notch—it feels great during games, whether you’re dinking or smashing. However, the biggest drawback is their durability. They tend to crack or break way too quickly, which is frustrating given how well they perform otherwise. If Franklin could improve their longevity, this would easily be the perfect pickleball.

Franklin X-40 pickleball

These are the balls our club likes to use. They are a little softer and friendlier for beginner/intermediate players. They do get soft and lose their shape in the warmer weather. Most everyone prefers the optic yellow over other colors.

Good quality ball, favorite for tourney players.

I ordered the balls for a large tournament at our facility. The balls were nicely round and I don't think we had an crack which is also a good sign.
