Also a major motion picture starring Cole Sprouse and Haley Lu Richardson! Goodreads Choice Winner, Best Young Adult Fiction of 2019 In this #1 New York Times bestselling novel that's perfect for fans of John Green's The Fault in Our Stars, two teens fall in love with just one minor complication-they can't get within a few feet of each other without risking their lives. Can you love someone you can never touch? Stella Grant likes to be in control-even though her totally out of control lungs have sent her in and out of the hospital most of her life. At this point, what Stella needs to control most is keeping herself away from anyone or anything that might pass along an infection and jeopardize the possibility of a lung transplant. Six feet apart. No exceptions. The only thing Will Newman wants to be in control of is getting out of this hospital. He couldn't care less about his treatments, or a fancy new clinical drug trial. Soon, he'll turn eighteen and then he'll be able to unplug all these machines and actually go see the world, not just its hospitals. Will's exactly what Stella needs to stay away from. If he so much as breathes on Stella, she could lose her spot on the transplant list. Either one of them could die. The only way to stay alive is to stay apart. But suddenly six feet doesn't feel like safety.

Soul Filling

Five Feet Apart, the story about a teenage girl, Stella, who is fighting Cystic Fibrosis. She has regimented each day to the exact minute and medicine dosage trying to prevent her inevitable death. All of a sudden a carefree young boy, Will, with a severe form of Cystic Fibrosis comes to Saint Grace Hospital and brings his almost recklessness with him. The characters showed me what it truly means to live each day as if it’s your last. Stella and Will are the perfect example of how we all long for genuine human connection. Before reading, I wish I would have known that the story changes perspective throughout. Other than that, this book has been one of my favorite reads. Five Feet Apart is perfect for those examining the dynamics of their own relationships and how to fill each of their days with the most experiences possible. I recommend this book to all young adults and teens who are starting to enter the world on their own and discover who they are and who they want to be.

Book Review

, "Five Feet Apart" is a touching and memorable book that will stay in your mind for a while. Lippincott's storytelling is great, and she talks about the sensitive subject matter with care and compassion. Whether you like romance novels or not, this is one book you need to read. It is about the power of love and friendship and to overcome even the toughest obstacles, and it is also about living life to it's fullest. While the idea of two people falling in love is not very new, the quality of the storytelling is very good. It keeps you intrigued and wanting to read more because the author is very good at capturing the emotions of the characters. The plot revolves around Stella and Will, two teenagers with cystic fibrosis who fall in love despite the strict rules that keep them six feet apart. Their journey is filled with ups and downs as they get through their illness and their growing feelings for each other. The tension between their desire to be together and the need to stay healthy creates a very interesting book. The central conflict is the decision on whether to follow the rules and stay safe or follow what their heart wants, which is each other. The language is very meaningful and easy to understand. The target audience is perfect for teenagers who enjoy emotional and heartfelt stories, and also just anyone who likes interesting romance novels. It is overall a very good book that I much recommend anyone to read, it is very well written and keeps you wanting to read more and more.

Fascinating

It’s difficult to read this (or any YA novel about teens in a hospital) and not compare it to The Fault in Our Stars. I liked these characters better as these are typical teenagers and not the pretentious wannabe adults in that other novel; they’re more believable this way. Their story is cute and because of their illnesses, doomed to fail, but it makes it more poignant and tragic this way, making you root for a way for them to be together. The ending was well done and not what I was expecting but it was the perfect way to end it. I enjoyed this as much as you can enjoy a story about dying teens.

5 Feet Apart

Five Feet Apart by Rachael Lippincott This teenage romance is too strong to keep these two from touching, although they might die if they do. This story explores Cystic Fibrosis, a disease that causes mucus to build up in the lungs, certain organs, and intestines. The two teenagers, Stella and Will, weren’t fond of each other very much when they first met and realized quickly that they were very different people. But, as they say, opposites attract. So, Will and Stella started talking more on FaceTime and walking around the halls of the hospital together. They both have the unfortunate disease and both deal with it differently. Stella was trying to help Will stay positive and encourage him to take his pills to help him get better and prepare him for a transplant of healthy lungs. Will is not a very optimistic person and doesn’t think there is a reason to try to get new lungs because it is not ideal for him. Stella’s attitude is slowly changing him as they fall in love with each other. They have learned about each other in the span of a few weeks in the hospital together. There is a connection immediately just by the way the two bicker and they both have aspirations and dreams that they share. The fact that they can also bond over their shared disease has also helped them with their relationship because they feel less alone. This book follows friendship and agony, love and agony, as well as the cruelty of a disease and is a beautiful read. Every element worked well and led to an intriguing end that most readers wish could have been further written, considering the excitement. It is a heartbreaking story as well as a happy romance, and it will make many people cry. Early adult readers who are fond of love novels and excitement would enjoy this book and everyone should get a chance to read it. A truly touching book that journeys through love, loss, agony, and agony.

100% recommend

five feet apart by Rachel Lippincott is probably my favorite book. it has lots of emotion and might even have you choked up at some parts. it’s a romance drama revolving around two patients at Saint Graces hospital, both battling Cystic Fibrosis. Stella Grant, an obsessive nest freak, is back in the hospital because of a fever. Will Newman, a “bad boy” who doesn’t tend to care about anything, is running a new treatment for B. Cepacia. Cystic Fibrosis is a chronic disease, which creates thick mucus in the lungs, leading to blockage in certain organs. this also makes it very hard to breathe. B. Cepacia can cause rapid decline in lung function and health for a person with Cystic Fibrosis. People with this cannot get a lung transplant, therefore it cannot be cured, only treated. When they first meet, Stella isn’t fond of Will. Slowly throughout the book they begin to make a bond and fall in love. Problem is, people with Cystic Fibrosis have to stay 6 feet apart to avoid exchanging bacteria, or the consequences could be fatal. When they begin to fall in love, they struggle trying to respect those restrictions. I personally love this book, it kept me hooked from the beginning. Throughout the book we get to see both Stella and Wills perspective, and i think it’s interesting to hear both of their point of view. This also helps us understand their personalities better as well. I would 100% recommend this book and i will read it again.

This is a highly recommended book

This book was written by Rachel Lippincott. This is a romance book. This book is about two teenagers with the disease cystic fibrosis. This is a disease where you have too much mucus in your lungs and it causes you to have breathing problems. If you have this disease you cannot get within 6 feet of someone else with this disease or it could cause death. These two teenagers met at a hospital and they didn't really get along at first. Will would try to talk to Stella but she never talked back. After a while they became friends and Will ended up falling in love with Stella. After a little bit of time Stella ended up falling in love with Will and they started doing everything together. One day they decided to go on a walk to the city when they stopped at an iced over pond. Stella got a call from the hospital saying that her new lungs were ready but she didn’t tell Will because she didn’t want to go back. They were messing around on the ice when Stella fell through. Will managed to pull her up from the water and had to give her mouth to mouth. The hospital found them both laying on the ice very sick. They got back to the hospital and Stella got her new lungs and neither of them were sick but Will decided to go and never see Stella again for the safety of both of them. I really like this book because it is a really sweet book but it is also really sad. It shows the difficulty of some people's lives. I think it is a great book. I would recommend this book because it has a lot of ups and downs and it kinda keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time.

Fantastic book! So touching.

If you are looking for a heart-shattering and tear provoking book this is book is a great fit for you. The authors did a great job hooking readers onto the story early on with powerful metaphors and deep and meaningful personification. While reading this book I was constantly shocked by the way the authors portrayed this awful condition. Although it was portrayed relatively accurately, I thought the severity of this illness was not shown enough as this condition claims many lives. The love story portrayed in this book is one I hope to see a happy ending to. The 2 lovesick teenagers that are plagued by their common illness are something similar to The Titanic. By the end of this read my heart was broken but my hopes were still high for the wellbeing of the characters.
