Does Not Fit Under Elevated Track

My son got the Busy Island set last year for Christmas with the “Wood” style connectors and got the new style Hiro and Kevin this year. These new trains do not fit under elevated track, or on the lower level of the station of the Busy Island set. Now that the “Clackety” track is out, my son’s track is obsolete and the new trains, the only ones available, don’t fit with his set. I know the redesign was due to the new animated series, but this feels like a huge oversight by Mattel to not check compatibility with older products. I will not be buying any more of these new trains until this issue is addressed.
