Run large and wide - but good traction

These seem very large and wide. I got these to wear with socks in the winter (in Florida). I am a size 9D so I got size 9. They seem quite big in my bare feet - I have a hard time keeping them on. They are OK with thick socks, which is what I got them for. But if I had to do it again, I would get size 8. They have raised edges, so they will collect water - keep them out of the rain. They do seem to have good sole traction, though.
