please read ((:

so i bought this book a little less than a year ago, I've always been a person interest in villain stories, sympathizing for them and such. when i started to read this i did not know what to expect as i had only read cinder (I'm at the very end of cress now) and I'm just blown away. the tears i shed over this, and the tears I'm shedding right now simply writing this review could be in the thousands. this will have spoilers so ignore everything after if you don't want that. to start i want to compare levana to a song, specifically the song "real men" by my favorite artist, mitski. it encapsulates how i believe she feels in a way. the book starts with a nightmare, and ends with something worse, the death of her husband. if that wasn't bad enough leading to that very moment you find out the one gift he gave her was not from him, but his dead wife, that he cannot stand to look at her without glamour, and that she cannot stand to look at herself in the mirror anymore, ordering all mirrors be removed. it is truly a one of a kind book, and yet i cried more than ever reading it. some reviews I've read play it down too much, must read for everyone (besides little kids).

Part of a series

I thoroughly enjoyed The Lunar Chronicles series, but Fairest was a letdown. It felt like I was reading lots of backstory. I'm guessing that because the series was so good, fans were begging for more so the publisher decided to release Meyer's backstories of who, why, and how the characters evolved.
