Big thanks to Steve who wrote the "How to fix those coaster contact pins" article 3 mo ago! I had a recessed pin on my mug and tried his vinegar method (simply place a drop of vinegar on the recessed pin and let it sit for half an hour). It worked like a charm! And even better, after leaving the pin to soak in the vinegar, I didn't even need to pull the recessed pin into place. It just popped up on its own. My Ember Mug is back to charging as I write this. I highly recommend this hack if one or both pins have recessed. And if there's one thing I NEVER want to go without, it's my Ember. It is the one thing I can count on during my long workday to soothe my soul. Thanks to Ember for creating an excellent product and Steve for helping me stay soothed!

Pins are a deal-breaker; I won’t rebuy.
As everyone else is saying, the pins fail and you’re just out of luck.

Charging Coaster Problem/Solution?
My ember charging coaster lasted 2+ years before it stopped charging. No matter what I tried, it just stopped charging. I learned the problem was probably mineral buildup from water, I did the following, and it worked: I used tweezers to pull up on the charging pins. Only one would pull up, indicating major mineral buildup had it glued down. I then sprinkled 1/4 tsp. of baking soda into the base, then poured enough white vinegar on it to cover the inside of the base. I let it sit for about 10 minutes. After pouring off the vinegar solution, I wiped out the coaster with rubbing alcohol, then with a damp cloth. TA-DA! It worked.

The coaster design is flawed
The second coaster has broken. I love the mug, but the repeated coaster failures make it hard to recommend this product. After barely a year of use, the pin failed to bounce back for charging. I use this mug five days a week for work, but the coaster isn’t waterproof or durable. This is my second failed coaster, and now I have to buy another one just to keep using my mug.

Chargers do not last
Chargers don't hold up. I've had three go bad, and they're stupid expensive. Hopefully my tumbler hasn't gone bad, too - to be determined...

Terrible
Very poor design, pins are not water proof, will corrode eventually or just break, requiring difficult soldering. No idea why they haven't updated this design yet.
