Love Eileen West gowns

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've worn Eileen West gowns for years but this year they run too large. Normally I wear a Small,, but this fit me like a tent. Way too much fabric. Very disappointed.

very soft fabric

I was expecting cotton, it is modal, which is a natural fabric and very soft! First true to the size and it is very feminine. Loved it!

Nightgown

Nice gown. Smell of strong perfume on it. I of course wash everything but the smell didn’t totally come out until washed twice.

not what I expected

This is made of Modal. I am pretty thorough about checking fabric content and I wanted all cotton. Eileen West was founded on pure cotton, exquisitely fashioned gowns with real shell buttons. This is kind of heavy and slick. No shell buttons. I realize they sell different fabrics now but I had hoped this was more like the sort I’ve been buying from EW since they were made in San Francisco. EW gowns have always been generously sized, but this XL is too big. The other gown I ordered (which is all cotton) is an XL that fits fine. Everything changes over time, but not necessarily for the better.
