Inconsistent sizing

Ordinarily I love these shoes. This is my third pair. I wear them as my house shoes because they are so comfortable and easy to change to my outside shoes. Just wore out my second pair and needed a replacement. However, this pair for some reason is very, very uncomfortable. They “smush” my toes together and make my small toe hurt. Don't know why so inconsistent. I had to return them.
