I absolutely love my Cuisinart Mix It In Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker! The ice cream does not take long to make. My first time making I followed the directions and the recipe given in the booklet provided and it was a breeze. Also very delicious! I can’t wait to try other flavors.

Yikes!
Used mine for years. Looks like the price has doubled over the last three years! Is this gouging?!

Ice cream maker
It’s not what I expected it is nice design but to much you have to do
Lots of fun but…
I bought this because I love soft serve! It’s a lot of fun! We loved being able to load the toppings in the little compartments. We have used it a couple times now. And although I love it, there were a couple downfalls. One, lots of pieces to clean after use. Not hard to clean, but there are many parts Two, the ice cream got too thick at one point because it got very frozen in the mixing bowl. This caused the machine to stop working. Because the mixer wasn’t turning, we couldn’t serve the ice cream. We had to wait for the machine motor to cool down before it would operate again. This took about 15-20 minutes Three, once the mixing bowl starts defrosting, the ice cream starts melting. So, you have a limited window for your ice cream party. It’s not a problem if you have everybody eating ice cream. But it makes quite a bit and it does need to be eaten fairly soon. On a good note, you can save any leftovers in an airtight bowl in the freezer to eat later. Overall, I’m happy with our purchase and we have really enjoyed our ice cream parties!

The soft serve will harden up quickly should watch
I like the recipes that comes with it. You have to watch the ice cream if you want soft serve. It will get hard really quick. Love it.

Need to pre-chill the ice cream mixture in freezer
The first time I used it, the ice cream didn't get thick or hard enough. It was like ice cream soup. I followed the instructions precisely - preparing the mixture ahead of time and refrigerating, and freezing the bowl in a chest freezer for 24 hours. After doing some research online, I found a suggestion that the ice cream mixture should be placed in the freezer for approximately 30 minutes before placing it into the ice cream maker. This has been the key. Still need to fine-tune the texture/thickness/consistency, but I'm happy to find that this has a much creamier texture than the old home-made ice cream freezers did.

Not as I envisioned
Paddles struggle to churn the ice cream, the motor sounds like it is going to blow up, grinds and moans
